Top 3 Patek Basel 2017 Releases
Here's my humble list of my favorite pieces released:
1. 5372P - I prefer the "rose gold" dial, gives it more of a vintage feel 2. 5960G - While its odd that they decided to make this in white gold, like the 5524, I like it a lot better on a strap rather than a bracelet. 3. 5168 - I'm sure this will be at the top of the list for others, but the aquanaut has never seemed very "substantial" to me, however the blue touch is nice. Big upset - 5170P. When I first saw it looked amazing until I noticed the diamond markers, what a bummer. Sword hands, that tachy scale and sunburst dial, this could have been huge, at least for me. I'd love to hear thoughts on favorites this year. |

For me my favorite is the new wg aquanaut 5168g followed by the 5170p and then the new "sporty" perpetual 5320g. Overall a strong year for Patek imo, but I feel like there were too many blue dial releases. Obviously it works well for some, but on a lot of others it seems unimaginative and lazy.

5650G is pretty amazing, although getting one may be as difficult as getting your hands on a 5131P. Agreed on the 5131P, don't love Patek bracelets. A nice dark strap to contrast the platinum would look great.

I am absolutely, madly in love with the 5320 perpetual!

I like the black dialed 5960.
And maybe the 5320 - gotta see that case and those hands. Don't like the 5170P or much else. |

Only the 5320G out of this PP Basel class of 2017 moves my interest meter a bit off of the 0 peg. To me, 5131P is fabulous if it came without that bracelet. I'd be curious to know how many owners would select a bracelet over a strap if 5131P were offered with those 2 options as different references to the few prospective owners.

I had thought the sheets shown at the fair were low for the US. But 5320G looks fairly good at 82K as the 5159s are in the low 90s and 240q movement watches in the high 80s. Darn I had my heart set on 74K.
