Great choice! I've owned a two tone sub for the last 8 years. Just traded my old style for a the new Ceramic version. Couldn't be happier. The two tone Sub is a timeless design in my eyes. I'll likely always own one. Enjoy yours in good health and congrats. A rocky arrival to one but you made it there nonetheless.

Great choice, I do believe however the dial size on the datejust and the sub are the same. The bezel of the sub is larger but dial face is the same. It is the maxi dial and markers on the sub that is making it easier to read. You would probably find a 36mm dark dial with silver batons easy to read as well. In any event congrats!

Amazing choice. My favourite sub after the LV.

How easy do you find reading the date? I'm also early 50's and find the date tricky in some light conditions, even with the cyclops.

You had a very thoughtful post. I also agree on #5. No one "needs" a Rolex (or a Mercedes, or an Hermes purse) as there are many wonderful timepieces that will do the job. If you're going to go for the Rolex, go for it, without half-measures. It's not quite the equivalent, but we recently had to reupholstered a vintage chair, and because of the shape and size of the chair, labor was very expensive. So, if we had to spend a considerable amount of money to get the chair redone, we may as well get the fabric we really wanted...a difference of money per yard was not that significant given the labor involved.

My husband has that TT Sub (pre-ceramic). It is attractive and legible, and a great watch. Enjoy!

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. While the cyclops helps, I will say reading the date is not always so easy. But if you hold the watch just right, the cyclops certainly makes it doable. Mostly I need the time though, so I don't find this a great problem.

Excellent writeup! And I completely agree -- if you're splurging on something, don't settle. Wait until you can get what you want.

Enjoy your new watch!
