Wearing a vintage Rolex to work?

For my 18th birthday, I purchased a vintage Rolex 1505. I would like this watch to be my everyday wear watch, but I am afraid when I wear it to work of it being damaged. I work at an antique store, and feel wearing a vintage Rolex couldn't fit the setting better, but I do occasionally move furniture. I purchased a sweatband to wear over my watch when moving any furniture. My question is, do you guys think it would be ok to wear the watch and will the sweatband itself scratch the watch?

What's the point of having it if you don't wear it?

I don't think he sweatband will scratch it, but if it does get some small scratches, who cares? It is undoubtedly already scratch somewhere, or has been at some point in it's life.

Stop worrying and enjoy your watch. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

I wear a 1953 6298 to work on firearms and manage a pawn shop. It's a watch, ment to be worn, bumped, scratched, and serviced. Wear it and don't think any more about it.

I'm normally careful with my watches but they are meant to be worn - otherwise you get the phenomenon I saw with my 1803...watch is fifty years old but looks like the previous owner never wore it. You only live once, wear those watches

You'll get differing opinions....A lot will tell you to enjoy the watch and not worry about it....Everyone's different in that regard....I like the sweatband idea, never thought of it. Keep it handy when moving heavy stuff....Great idea! It's your watch, you paid for it, if you want to be careful with it, especially when 'new' to you, it's your business.

I've been known to stick a piece of packing tape lightly over a watch to protect it when I was working in a confined space surrounded by metal, I have tried the sweatband approach but found the slightest friction would usually displace it. Others would tell me "Just take it off and put it in your pocket for a minute" but I refuse to do that. My greatest success was actually tying a bandana over my watch, but untying it is an effort and it tended to stay on, once on. I'm very interested to read what others have tried.

I wear my vintage daily but never get it wet. One thing though.. if I'm on the shop floor when working. It stays at home, swarf, coolants, chemicals and welding is a no.

Watches are meant to be worn, vehicles are meant to be driven. I wear my current daily, 114300 grey, nonstop, as I always do whatever I wear. I drive my vintage bimmers daily, no matter the weather etc. Why have something you love if you can't enjoy it?

I wear my vintage Tudor Submariner to work every day. However, gone are the work days at my GM Dealership or in the Army Reserve. Retired from both and am now a Methodist Minister. So, my days are that robust (physical movement, etc.).

Yes, wear your watch and the sweat band is a good idea as it works for you. Enjoy it.

I work with my hands in a studio / machine shop, lots of dirt, oil, vibration, welding, pulling, lifting, hammering, grinding... That's why I need a Rolex, they are tough as nails! If the going gets too tough
I just take it off and drop it in my pocket.

I wear my Datejust for work (admittedly in an office). My view is that it's meant to be worn.

I do take it off before doing anything that could cause an expensive catastrophe like a bracelet breakage. :)

I work with my hands turning wrenches, swinging hammers, banging my watch constantly on things. Truthfully the only time I take it off is when working with electricity! My 16750 is 32 year's old. I've only had it for two I'm positive it's seeing worse before I got it! And if not the next time you get it serviced it should be back to New. Rolex is one of the best for a reason. Made to be worn enjoy it congratulations!
