the 3 Panerai made for their die hard fans

Panerai made 3 special watches for what they call the Paneristi.

Long ago the 195, than the 360 and now the 532.

All 3 of them are or were VERY hard to get. Some say you had to be selected.
The 532 won't probably be another story. Allocated via the Paneristi website or being a well know Panerai client will probably be the way to get one.
I can't imagine John Doe will walk into a boutique or AD and be able to buy the 532

The 195 abd 360 were immense popular, the 532 will follow the same path without question


That aside, which one would you prefer ?
The 195 and 360 are almost the same ( black 44 mm Luminor) or would you prefer to have the new 1940 model ?

The movement is a no-brainer. The 532 has the nice inhouse P3000 while the other 2 had a simple Unitas

195. I'll admit that the 532 has some nice traits. DLC for example is a much better finish compared to PVD...

360's legendary but I like Marinas best (secs subdial).

Panerai is done to me

I have a 360, it hasn't seen daylight in over 6 months, goes for the rest of my Panerais too except for 372 (best pam)

They just exhausted their brand, principles, etc…

Along with Martin's comments, if I take a look at these 3 hard to get watches for their hardcore fans, I really don't see a huge difference between these and the base watches...

195 looks just like the 005 I had, but in a different finish. Never owned a rad but the 532 looks kinda cool.

Looking at the three together, it truly baffles me why OP didn't out the logo on the 532. Makes zero sense.

I'm not sure what you mean, Serge, as DLC is a type of PVD. Is it that the 195's PVD coating isn't of DLC quality?

Yes, you're quite correct; Diamond-Like Coating is also applied using the "PVD process", just like Titanium Aluminum Nitride, a current-day material associated with PVD. DLC is known for its "high surface hardness".

Based on the time the 195 came out, I'm assuming it's using older materials (for example, Titanium Nitride). This "assumption" is also based on a good friend of mine's experience with his 5218-210... . Perhaps it's also the application process that has improved... sorry, I'm not an expert - but I will bet on DLC over TIN...

I like em all .. Would settle for any of the 3 but won't buy a cent above MSRP ! The first two have nothing worth more than 5K and the 532 is pretty expensive for what it offers .. If it were in Ceramic, one could still make a case !!! .. a 45 mm 292 can bring in all you need for half the price IMO.

More or less euro 7k for a 292 and about 9k for the 532.

And the 532 has a Nice inhouse p3ooo, the 292 a cheap unitas

I also have panerai with a 'cheap' unitas so nothing wrong with that. I even have a 318 with a cheap completely unfinished unitas

But if an inhouse p3000 costs only 2 k more I think it is a very acceptable price for a non mass produced movement.
IWC doubles the price if you can choose between an inhouse chrono or a valjoux 7750

292 is 9K USD but can be had for 6.9K new or 6K mint. Easily half or a little more.

The Lack of in house movement is more than made up by the matte ceramic case as opposed to PVD .. And the price point.

If offered a 249 and a 448, assuming I loved both equally, I'd pick the 249 in a sec with heavy preference for the 6497.

Truthfully, I like the dial more on the 448 but would still pick the 249.
