Rolex Deepsea news?

Any news about it's phase-out? Or to be continued?

Pretty sure they're not going to discontinue a watch that's so wildly popular and selling out of every store. Cmon man. If you had a business, would u randomly discontinue one of your best selling products?!

From marketing point of view, occasionally discontinuing a model that had been out for a few years (even if it's selling well) may help to boost sales in the long one.

Rolex can discontinue DB with gradient blue dial and replace one with, e.g. a satin blue dial. People will rush to buy the new DB and sales volume of other models may also increase as people will try to grasp the watch they want before Rolex stop making it.

Although I hate to admit this is very true. But if a 43mm SD with cyclops appear this concept will change.

The only watch discontinued by Rolex
since the last years, till today, is the 16610lv that last for only 7 years in production, all the others where just reviewed from 5 numbers ref. to 6 numbers ref. With some differences.
Maybe, as someone said, just the J.Cameron dial will be discontinued, I still have to understand the reason why, but I bet that there is a reason for the owners of that dial, or they hardly wish, let's put it this way...from my point of view I wish them that Rolex has the same need they have...

Well then the 16610LV became the current 116610LV.

The 6-digit Turn-O-Graph was discontinued, 5 or 6 years ago.

There's actually an article out there that says Rolex isn't really selling the Deepsea as well as the other models, under Rolex high standards I suppose. So they wanted to discontinue it.

So to fastrack selling the remaining supplies, they created the Blue Deepsea. Once supplies run out, Deepsea will be totally discontinued.

I myself don't believe this. But another article predicting 2017 Basel said it will be discontinued.

So thought of asking if there are new news about it

Rolex will announce in Basel their retirement of automatic watches and they will focus on smartwatches and other wearables.

I doubt it was intended to be a volume seller; more of an engineering flagship/showcase. It's been on sale now for nearly 9 years and I doubt that Rolex are losing any sleep over it.

Rolex don't publish sales figures, so it's all hearsay and guesswork really.

I've been told they are going to have a new process for the deep sea. You have to finish and win an Ironman race, then you go on a list.
