Good Video of New SEA DWELLER

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72J3GKysAS4

Two things:

• Looks big but not enormous – much like the Pelagos. In other words, the Sub/SD/DSSD size lineup of 40/43/44 might be misleading; the new SD likely sits right in between as opposed to closer to the Deepsea. Rolex also is in the habit of overstating the size of its pieces, so this may IN FACT be the 42mm dive watch that many were pining for.

• Adams confirms that the bracelet is redesigned to be wider and therefore more in proportion to the case size. This makes an ENORMOUS difference to me.

Overall, notwithstanding the hand-wringing over the size increase, we probably have to see the new SD in person before we can render a verdict…

Either he has a large wrist or the new SD wears smaller than 43mm because it definitely looks well proportioned on his wrist. But if you think about it, all the SD models have always worn small on the wrist.

He has a 6.75" wrist (I know because he mentions it in his reviews from time to time).

Wow, really good looking watch. But the new Grand Seiko diver is really beautiful also. Great year for divers.

Wish he could have shown it side-by-side with a Sub. Hard to gauge size with only one watch

Thanks and nice to see it on the wrist. Contrary to many here, I don't mind the cyclops, especially with my aging eyes.

The case lugs and bracelet do blend nicely together. My only wish would be for the DSSD clasp.

Any guesses as to the thickness? Hoping it stays at 15mm...

Specifics and statistics are irrelevant.
Either one likes the proportions as it presented or not.
At the end of the day we will need to try it on and see for ourselves.

This is growing on me, 9/10 will buy. Hopefully demand is soft like the SD4K so my AD will be eager to discount.

Of course it's relevant. One easy example for you: Do we need to buy 21mm Natostraps for this watch?

The biggest question for me is does it have the glide look bracelet from the DSSD or the glide lock mechanism from the submariner where you have to open the clasp to adjust it.

I thought it looked too big for him, but, either way, it's a well designed watch at that size. Outside of the size, it's the best looking professional model in the catalog, IMO.

Just realised that the strap is new and more in proportion to the rest of the watch. That to me is a big positive.

I will wait to see this one to in person but history etc aside, I like it.

Oh my goodness.
I never thought of that.

We will find out in the fullness of time anyway.
But I think the width is closer to 22mm.

21mm is such a pain in the you know what. The 216570 Explorer II is 21mm and it was really difficult to find anything. Please let it be 22mm!

I'd be VERY surprised if the lugs are 22mm. Almost positive they'll be 21mm like the Exp II and DSSD.

More important, I think, is the taper – is the clasp 16mm like all the other Rolex sports models, or did they widen it to 17mm or even 18mm?

I thought it would be 22mm as well by looking at the pics and video, but the DSSD is 21mm. Doubt they'd make the lug width larger than that of the DSSD.

My guess, it's the same 21mm like the DSSD.

That said, if they increased the distance between springbars and the case that would be a plus. It is next to impossible to find a high quality NATO that fits on my SD4K.
