Urban Jürgensen 40mm vs. 42mm Alfred Size Comparison

As promised, here are some comparison shots I was able to take of the original 42mm Alfred and the newer 40mm. I do not own the 42, just the 40. I think the smaller size suits my wrist better and I am happy with my choice.

Like I mentioned previously, the 40 wears closer to a 39, but the 42 does wear like a 42, at least to me. Photos can make the watches look bigger on my wrist than they appear in person. For reference, my wrist is 7,5 inches in circumference. The 42mm has a 21mm strap width, while the 40 has a 20mm width. Both here are with bison leather straps, but the 42's is more padded, which suits the larger case.

Also one thing to note is the seconds subdial on the 42 is larger, with smaller font.

The grenage grain on the 42 dial is slightly finer, but I think that just comes down to it being hand made and not a mass produced part, so some slight difference is to be expected. I don't think you would notice if they weren't side by side.

Thanks so much for this, I really appreciate this, it's very helpful. Both are incredible. Congrats again on your 40, it looks and wears great.

Glad to be of help. It really does wear great, thanks lot.

By the way, this case size comparison goes for all 40mm watches vs 42mm watches from UJ, except for the Big8 and Reference 10, which have a slimmer 40mm case that actually wears slightly larger.
