Trying out AP again? Suggestions?

So I know this is the Rolex section. But I want answers from people who’s go too is similar as mine. Over the time I have been learning about watches I’m starting to appreciate things with more complex movement. The Perpetual Calendar really has my eye... I’m really not to familiar with pricing... and there is only one AD here and they literally have 2-5 watches in stock at a time. I also have never used Chrono24...it seems legit but I’m just looking for any feedback. In terms of pricing and how you guys think I would enjoy the watch..I have had people tell me Audemars are very delicate and mark easily and also can just stop working for no reason. I felt like this was a very biased opinion but that’s why I’m here. This is what I’m looking at

I have two royal oak offshore watches, they are awesome. I have never had any problems with them. I know the offshores run a bit bigger than other watches, so they do tend to be a bit more hazardous with the scratch department. However if you have been wearing watches for awhile you will then know you become accustomed to them so Not really a big deal. I also wear my watches and don’t baby them. In my opinion I love wearing AP because they represent a different level of watching making than Rolex. That being said I have 6 Rolex’s and love them as well. Where I live you don’t see too many AP’s so it’s nice to have something more. Hope this helps...good luck on your hunt. That is an awesome AP you are looking at.

I feel like that price is pretty good. I have to admit I haven’t really looked at that model in particular. It’s also hard for me to look at AP’s in person since there isn’t a boutique where I live. So much like you I’m constantly searching around to find them. Definitely a cool watch though.

$76k is about $5k-$8k high, you should be in the high sixties on it at most.

The minimum price in the US is around $54000 usd = $74500 Canadian dollars for Silver/White dial

But for Blue dial, it will cost a lot more.

Spot on.

Most of the sellers on Chrono24 are amenable to price reductions if you reach out to them.

Some dealers don't accept suggest price because they are the lowest on the list.

If they accept suggest price, you can put whatever you willing to offer them, they might come back with counter offer or say no. You can try.

Wow Agni, I can sum up the exact thing I’m going through. About to pull the trigger on the same watch. Also enquiring if it’s possible to purchase blue dial in the future.

Post some pics when you gets yours.

Here’s some I found so far.

This coming July, Dallas will have a new AP Boutique.

Do you live near Dallas?

Haha man I wish the blue dial wasn’t so much more! But the white/silver does pop pretty nice. I’m probably going to get it in 2-4 months

If you want to know more details about this new boutique, you can get in touch with Mr. Wyatt Mesh at 1-469-986-5338. He is the boutique manager.

This new Audemars Piguet Boutique is located at Highland Park Village in Dallas.

If you like the blue dial, I'd wait a little bit longer and scoop that up. Depending on where you're located, if you talk to your boutique and show true interest and passion for it, they will help you get an allocation.

The white dial does pop nicely in those photos compared to the renderings. I think I'd still go for the blue though for more contrast. Plus looks pretty sharp on a blue strap for some summer optionality.

Well said. I’m not in a rush either. I think I’m going to take your advice. I don’t think Canada has a boutique but was have some authorized dealers

You have any place you travel to for holiday or work that may have a boutique? That may be the best bet.

Any suggestions? In terms of a boutique? I’m in Canada and we have 1 AD...and it’s very slim pickings there. Another factor is I’m not allowed in the USA. I can travel any where else but not the US. Happy to travel though

I think they delayed the opening of this store, but it does say AP coming soon. They haven't taken the plywood facade down yet to reveal the store. Between Corona virus and all the vandalism and looting over the last few days, I'm guessing they will not be opening soon.
