GMT Pepsi - 5 years wait - close?

Hi friends,

I’m waiting 5 years now for the GMT Pepsi. Recently my AD emailed me asking which bracelet I would like to have. What does it usually mean… is it close to arrive? Anybody with a same experience?

Regards

My BLRO took 15 months. About six months later the bracelet option was introduced. My AD rang me to ask which bracelet I wanted and the watch arrived 11 months later.

I don't know how my time scale would fit yours but it does appear that you are a contender and moving up the list, the operative word being "appear".

Have you tried asking the AD? That's what I would do. My AD is approachable, yours may be different.

Thanks for writing your experience! Unfortunately not so approachable only answer I get is I’ll get the call when it’s my turn, no timeline.

It’s my grail, I’m really looking forward to receive my Pepsi!

Five years is a long wait but if you can tolerate it, the BLRO will be well worth it. It's a fantastic watch. I hope you won't be waiting much longer.

In my limited experience, both times my SA has asked a clarifying question the watch followed soon after.

I think it was likely they had the watch / knew it was coming, and were in the process of discussing allocation between the sales staff and the clients they represented.

I'd ask your AD though - half a decade for a BLRO seems unreasonable.

OP may have many watches from many brands. However, an 12 series GMT Master Pepsi can only be obtained from one manufacturer.

Unfortunately my AD that I had a 20 year association with lost their Rolex line during the pandemic. I started a new association with a local mall AD and spent over $125K in the last 16 months (2 gold subs - bought the white gold as a walk-in with no buy history and took 6 months to get the yellow gold I really wanted with some other ladies models and jewelry along the way). Had told my SA that a Pepsi is a want. About 3 months ago I told her I was looking for a big stone (3 ct) for 25th anniv gift but really wanted to get a steel sports model 1st.

In the end I got a referral to a different AD nearby and had to bundle the diamond with a Pepsi.

In the end cheaper (paid 2x for the jewelry at the AD than a downtown dealer) to go gray if a Pepsi or Panda is on your wish list.

I'm more surprised the waiting list actually exists in this case .. I thought the 5 year waiting period quote was just imaginary number

I am surprised you waited that long but that is something I don't think I can do.
Good luck and I hope you finally get your watch, don't forget to share pictures.

My patience is definitely being tested haha, they are a friendly and very professional AD though. Thanks for wishing me luck, will definitely update this thread with pictures when I finally get it.

There just toying with you. I waited 4 years for an explorer 2 either dial and stoped in ever few months to purchase different watches. All told I spend close to 40k and still no explorer. I ended up going gray and when I went back in to see my sa not realizing I was wearing it, he look and said why didn’t you just say you wanted it that bad and pulled one from the safe.

That’s a pretty extreme example, and makes me wonder what that AD would have qualified for “wanting it that bad” if not years of follow up and a $40K spend.

I’m glad I gave up after six months. I’m too old to wait 5 years for a watch.

Great example of when to just go grey. My Exp II was almost brand new - only 4 days old. The premium was hundreds, not thousands and I picked it up the day after I called to ask about it.

It’s silly not to go and look gray. I got the exact model I wanted 216570 for 2018 that’s the year I fell in love with the polar explorer and now I have that exact watch and I wear it all the time. I think alls I paid over retail at the time was the shipping cost. And I can’t complain about that.

I’ve also been waiting around 5 years now
Think I might go to the AD and take my name off the list now as I buy all my watches pre owned, fed up with AD nonsense plus many models now available at retail anyway

They might have one available but want to check if it suits you; suggest to reply you will take either oyster or jubilee (or you are ok with either) to get more chances of getting one sooner

That’s my read as well. After 5 years the AD is just seeing if he still has reliable money on his list.

Could be worse. My local AD commented on my white SS Daytona when I dropped by to chat and said that my Daytona is a “decade+ watch”. I explored his comment and he said for him only 1/5 of the people on his waiting list will ever see a white Daytona and it will be closer to a decade long before they get one, if at all. That is a horrific outlook and it’s not like there is any other AD’s closer than 200 miles away.
