I wouldn't want to own a Honda, but I'd love an Acura NSX.

Similar to Honda - Acura, Toyota - Lexus, Nissan - Infinity; Seiko has done gone through some name changes to counter the "it's a Seiko" by launching the Grand Seiko and Credor lines. http://www.timezone.com/library/rdnotebook/200607314159

Note in reality I own a Honda, but it doesn't help my point.

I held that watch when I visited AZ Fine Time last year... I almost pulled the trigger... GS's are right there with Rolex in quality. It's a great watch. Did I see you sold it recently?

I think the car analogy is apt. Volkswagen brought out the Phaeton which was in many ways equal to the top end cars then available from Audi, BMW and Mercedes and at a much better price point... but they couldn't make it work as the prestige buyers were willing to pay a premium to have a prestige brand on their trunk. I think that it will be hard to convince many prestige watch buyers to forego their next Rolex in favour of a Seiko... no matter how good the Seiko is.

George, I missed out on the sale of your SD GMT by a few days, but I was so impressed after reading your review and doing some research, I just bought a new one. Absolutely love it. I have a several Submariners and Sea-Dwellers, but the build quality, finishing, and detail of the GS is much better. Already have my eye on the GS Snowflake.

Came across this as I am about to pull the trigger on a SBGE009 GMT Spring Drive. The amount of engineering put into these Spring Drives is amazing!

I could not agree with you more on the build quality, finish and detail in comparison to Rolex….. yes, it is another level. It is what you see with Vacheron Constantin and JLC as I’ve owned both. Now that said there are other things then just fit and finish, but it is what you notice. That model “nailed it” and “stuck the landing” on the overall look... the dial, hands, sapphire bezel, markers and lume. Yes, it is a magnificent piece.

I real watch enthusiasts (if you buy this then you probably know a thing or two about watches) watch and not one you see every day - very, very nice. That would not have been on my sell list.

The Honda NSX is probably a bad example as it's only known as the Acura for the US Market.

I'm a seiko fan, and the spring drive really pushes all the right buttons for me. I'd like to have one, but at that price point, I'd probably add another Rolex to the collection first. Still, they are gorgeous and if one came up on here second hand.......

I'd would look great in my watch box next to my daily wear/beater Seiko Velatura GMT.

Do they use screws in the bracelets of the GS? I had a SD GMT Chrono and it was very nice, but on a $6000.00 watch I would have hoped for screws in the bracelet and not push out pins.
