Here is a side by side comparison of a Seiko quartz & my TT DJ.

The reason I picked SEIKO is that SEIKO was my first analog watch. If I have a $100 to spend on a watch, I would look for a SEIKO. And if you look around, SEIKO is probably the most mass produced watch on people's wrist today all over the world, even moreso than the g-shock. |

While there is no comparison, that picture clearly shows an example of Seiko blatantly copying Rolex's design.
But I don't think comparing it to Invicta is fair. Invicta is garbage. Seiko is a respectable company with large number of products, some of which are derivative of iconic designs from other (better IMO due to originiality) companies.

Apart from the dial markers and hands which all watches must have, and today on most all watches they are stick, Romans, or Arabic numbers the similarity ends.Watch case, winding crown, date window, crystal no cyclops and bracelet are different on the Seiko. And many Seiko watches from the 1940s pre Rolex DJ had stick type markers and thin hands.Lets not forget that Seiko started way back in 1881 and making wrist watches mainly in Japan since 1913.And over the years won many awards like in 1968 the best mechanical wrist chronometer of the Geneva Observatory Competitions beating all the Swiss major brands including Rolex. And over the many horology outstanding years Seiko have won many other awards like the first automatic chronograph equipped with both vertical clutch and column wheel, now Rolex did not make there first Chronograph till 2000 mainly because they were forced into making there own for the very first time when Zenith could not supply enough ebauche movements

These two have a similarity to a DJ with Jubilee bracelet.
Obvious differences are no cyclops + the day. Otherwise, pretty close. http://www.seikousa.com/gallery/index.php

My very first watch, when I was about 11 or 12 or 13 yrs old, looked something like this::
It's not a priority on my 'to do' list, but one day, I'll pick up another. Love Seiko. Nothing in the Invicta line, that I've seen, excites me that much. Just not a fan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Invicta will never be what Seiko is to the watch world, unless they do a hard about at full steam ahead and even then it might take them a century.

another one for those who appreciate vintage Seiko. This Bell Matic has a very loud alarm that one can set by turning the internal bezel. IMHO it looks great and is a fantastic watch. note the portuguese calendar. friday is sexta-feira and that way it reminds you that friday is a day for "sex". How cool is that!

If you could only afford to spend $100 on a watch and the choice was Invicta or Seiko my choice would be Seiko. The Seiko will provide you with many many years of reliability unlike the Invicta which is a roll of the dice as far as reliability.

Seiko is a wonderful brand and was my first watch ever as a child. I still have that watch and I am sure if i put a battery in, it would work just as good as new. I still wear my Orange monster from time to time and it gives me just as much joy as a Rolex, AP, Omega you name it. Automatic Certified dive watch for $200 with day and date? How can you beat that?
I recommend this watch to anyone i meet looking to dip their feet into the mechanical watch world! orangemonster.jpg |

Totally disagree. If there's a word or phrase that conveys it better, feel free to substitute . . .

Sorry I missed your post too my friend. I even forgot I was posting on this thread.. Actually I have a couple more. This one belonged to my late grandfather and I simply love this watch. Its the only watch I have ever engraved (I wrote his name on caseback) and I have another 6119 silver dial with japanese calendar. I love vintage 6119. Hope you like it.

LOL
I would never cut a Seiko, they are quality built. Whether you happen to like the particular design or not is a matter of personal preference and doesn't effect me in the least. I have a friend or two that have no use whatsoever for a Rolex after personal experiences. Just their opinion's as far as I am concerned, doesn't bother me in the least, I continue to wear my Rolex on a daily basis. That is, when I am not wearing one of my vintage Tissot jewels, among others. Have a goooooooooooooooooooooooooood day or what is left of it.

Price-wise maybe similar but that's where it ends. Sumo, Samurai, Spring Drive GMT, Spork, BFS... Just a few models from Seiko that prove Invicta is nowhere near its level.

Hello
Id rather own a G-Shock than an Invicta... I do own a Seiko SNR005 (one of my dress watches) watch with a Spring Drive movement. Original design and amazing movement and is much more accurate than any of my Rolex's. The SD movement is an incredible innovation from Seiko. I have a Seiko Kinetic (college beater) and its never let me down...amazingly reliable and accurate. The thing with Seiko is they sell beaters and they also sell heirlooms all under the same umbrella. |

Don't really care about originality (sorry), as long as I like the look of a watch and I can afford it, it goes on the wrist no matter who copied who, if indeed it happened. Grand Seiko's (don't know about regular Seiko or Invicta, never owned one) hold their own with Rolex and other brands in terms of quality, even more so considering price differences (my experience/my watches). . . .

Seiko and Invicta arent even in the same league! Seiko is pure rough and tough quality while Invicta is nothing but Sh$#t......in my own personal opinion that is.
