Rolex 1675/3 or 16753 inserts on Fleabay
Hello all!
Calling on the experts to comment if you would be so kind. I have a 1675/3 serial 3.24 million serial number "root beer" if you need the nickname. My watch is currently being serviced by Phillip Ridley (thank you Phillip for your help and understanding!!) but does have an all brown insert the watch came with. It is my understanding that yes, dealers would frequently replace the insert at the owner's request but the correct insert for the 1675/3 is the half and half version. First of all I do not plan on purchasing any of these, as my finances are being applied to the actual service but am curious what to look for when I am ready. I have included three inserts currently listed on EBAY (for quite some time!), and a picture of my watch to see what is on there now. From what others have commented on other inserts, I think an appropriate insert should have a smaller arrow, and the "8s" should be more oval for period correct, and if circular "8s" then it is a later service insert. Also, back of the insert should be gold and not red. Not sure if any of that is actually true, but I am also using @Springers excellent write up (https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=439296) on the Pepsi insert to guide me in other variations, hooked "2s" and whatnot. Anyways, have at it! @Suligio, Lovely insert! I believe it has all the hallmarks, at least from my limited understanding, of being original for a 1675/8. It does look period correct with oval 8s, slightly serif fonts, and maybe even what might be considered a small arrow marker at 2400 for an early 70s insert. Plus the small dimple on the back seems to be a common artifact of both service and original inserts. That said, it too is all brown but still another good (great!) example to add to the conversation, if any develops… Thank you for the offer but as I mentioned, this post is more of a quest for information. There is only a fraction of the information available for the root beer as compared to the Pepsi. I do like the colors of the inserts I posted above and yours for that matter but would like to make sure what I do pursue as a replacement is period correct and appropriate for my reference and serial number. Thank you for commenting and your offer!
