I own both the LVc and 15703ST, and the only answer is to get both

Omega’s not a proper watch? Out of the three you mention sub date. But you already have a diver with the Omega.

I have to think about that. There are plenty of watches that copy Rolex but also make their own designs and they sell quite well. If the designs of the royal oak and nautilus were so compelling at least someone would be able to make a buck off the design alone by copying it. I’ll go along with you that the Rolex fakes may be due to prestige (to some degree). But we can argue that a knockoff is no status symbol, it’s the look that they are after rather than actually passing themselves off as a rolex. It’s well documented that the RO did not sell for quite some time, and it’s possible that it’s styling is still polarizing.

Since you seem like you're probably ready for it, skip the Rolex and go for the AP.

IMO, Rolex, Omega, IWC, etc, have many models in somewhat the same overall range of quality (dial, movement, case, etc).
AP is a step up.

Rolex.....less delicate, more accurate, and more reliable. AP is like an 80's Ferrari IMO. Great 5th car.... as a 1st or 2nd wouldn't be my choice.

AP is actually a pretty reliable brand. They're a lot more like a 1990's NSX. Cool but not totally unreasonable to use and maintain.

This upcoming purchase will be my only watch (other than the Omega) for the next few years. These are the watches I'm thinking about.

1. AP Royal Oak Offshore Diver (Black rubber strap, black face and silver body)
Why? Ever since subscribing to MrJWW on YouTube I have been in love with this watch and the AP brand in general.
Pros: AP is a very prestigious brand, love rubber straps on expensive watches, really like the display case on the back, relatively easy to find at AP ADs.
Cons: A bit bulky, a bit flashy, doesn't seem to hold its value all that well.

2. Black Rolex Sub Date
Why? The classic luxury watch that got me into watches.
Pros: Relatively easy to obtain at an AD, goes with everything, classic Rolex model.
Cons: Not all that special, lots of people have them. Probably the worst SS model as for value retention.

3. Rolex Sub - "Hulk"
Why? What's not to like about a green Rolex?
Pros: Very unique model, holds its value incredibly well, stunning dial.
Cons: Color might grow old, hard to get at retail.

Thoughts?
If you have a Seamaster-you already have a proper watch.

Sorry i shouldn't infer any unreliability in movement. I mean more so i prefer features like the style of oyster lock clasp and simple turning bezel style for everyday use. I've always liked Royal Oaks, would just be afraid to wear it much with it's finish. The Divers are certainly more hearty though that they make.

First watch was a Panerai. Love them.
First proper watch for me was the AP ROO. Daily beater here! Just replaced the oem strap today.

all 3 are great watches. my advice is to buy the one you like the most (not based on rational assessment but based on your heart). if none of them excite your heart don't buy any of them. find a watch that does and buy it.

Decide to leave the AP as something to look forward to in a future purchase. Currently on the AD waiting list for both the black sub and the Hulk. Will buy whichever one comes up first.

MrJWW rocks an AP ROO Diver. It’s a good watch if you wrists to match it cuz it does wear big.

FYI. Black SS Subs hold their value extremely well btw. Compared to the AP ROO anyway.

Personally, I would go with the SubC.

You are, but I felt extremely top heavy is going too far so I responded with the comparison to a DSSD, as I've owned both and that one is more top heavy but then I wouldn't call that one extremely top heavy either.

PS didn't notice the DSSD pledge so took me a few moments to understand your first sentence, seemed very random at first.

I would rule out the hulk, not diverse enough. I had mine for about 4years then sold it on.
Between the black sub and diver, I would say start with the black sub. If you are not a flipper, then it will end up being a watch you have for a very long time.
After the Rolex then I would suggest looking at other brands. AP is great, I would say Royal Oak or ROO over the diver tho, unless you are really into divers watches.
Good luck which ever way you decide to go.
