RSC Toronto - no charge repair 8 yr old watch

Been noticing some vibration and noise from the rotor on my 2011 Hulk. I just dropped it off to RSC Toronto and they said they would look at it and any repairs necessary would be at no cost. I asked why no charge and the woman at the desk said because “it’s a rolesor and because the watch is in such good condition cosmetically.”

Out of interested, what is “Rolesor”?

She also said they would do a very light polish - and I did make sure to specify very light, for all the anti-polish guys on here.

For anybody wondering about their service, so far I’d say absolutely top notch.

Now just 4-6 weeks without my daily

Are you sure it was a Rolex service center you dropped it off at!?

ROLESOR is what Rolex call their two tone watches, which doesn’t make sense if you gave her a hulk. Then again, she could be nothing more then a receptionist saying words she overheard at work

They probably saw your car and thought you were a high Roller, and wanted an excuse to give you great service...

j/k BTW, I have no idea...

I also sent a 6 year old sub there because it was loosing 17 seconds a day. Was fixed for free and they called that ( customary service performed outside of warranty period) Ended up free of charge, I only paid shipping to RSC.

They truly are a gem in Toronto.

Sounds like you just had a clueless employee. Did they give you anything in writing that says it’ll be free of charge? I’m hoping it is but I can’t help but be a little skeptical.

Yeah I thought the same but she assured me there would be no cost.

To be honest I had expected them to recommend a full service as the watch is going on 8 years old but no, she said no service was required.

Wow, I just took a Submariner 11613lb and a 18238 DD in for service, both bought from a TS, the technician even came out and remarked what superb condition they were both in...but free?

Nope...I'll be paying for both, Sub was from 2007 and DD from 1999, guess there's a few more years there.....

You went to the one on St.Clair correct?

I guess it's great that they said that, though it is truly bizarre. If the person who spoke with you didn't know what ROLESOR meant, why was she in a position to say that it would be free? Also, what if the problem is genuinely caused by something serious that requires parts to fix? Why would they be so eager to charge nothing for it?

Lord Thunderin' Jaysus, just realized it was about a week ago I met fellow TRF member Brenngun down at RSC to put our watches in for service, one week without my Submariner and Day-Date....yet it feels like they've been gone for years...sheesh, don't know how the Patek guys can handle a watch service without having a breakdown....

I’ve had my Date serviced there twice. The work is excellent. Everything was exactly as stated and the people at the service desk were very informed.

They did say that it wasn’t going to be a full service.

They said they will fix the issue relating to the rotor and regulate and polish at no cost.

Understood, still interesting that they will service the rotor issue out of warranty.

If she doesn't know what Rolesor is, I doubt very much she is qualified to some how know that the problem with the rotor has not created other issues that would mean a service was required.

Noise and vibration from the rotor would indicate bearing wear due to lack of lubrication, or worse.

Let us know how this goes

Agreed that RSC Toronto is top notch. I had to send my brand new Tudor BB Chrono in to fix a blemish on the inner bezel, and the couple of times I called to follow up, they were always very polite and informative on the status of my watch.

She brought the watch to the back and had a watchmaker look at it. She asked if I wanted to speak with him but unfortunately I didn’t have time.

Another vote for RSC Toronto. Bought my Sub C about 7 years ago. Stopped working within warranty a few years ago and they fixed it. Suddenly last year it did the same thing. I called and complained that it had just been serviced. They offered to fix it again for free out of warranty. Had it back in 6 weeks free of charge. Great service.

Toronto RSC just serviced my A serial 14060. RSC followed my requests and did a perfect job.
