114060 now or wait for Basel
Would you wait for Basel for a new sub (no date*) with potentially slimmer lugs or order a 114060 right now if you could have it in a month?

Congrats on your purchase! I believe the sub has a 3130 (no date movement). I have the 3132 movement in my explorer, which keeps fantastic time (-0.8 sec/D). The 3130 is proven movement though, so I’m not too concerned about that. But...... how does your new watch wear on your wrist? do you feel the lugs are too big/wide? I have the 114060. Question is do I feel the lugs are too wide.
That’s a very difficult question to answer. Part of me wishes the lugs were narrower, more traditional. But another part of me loves the more “modern” look of the boxy lugs. I have to say I was concerned before I bought it last month. I wouldn’t trade the ceramic bezel for aluminum or ever give up,Glidelock, so I don’t want the 14060. But would I want thinner lugs? I don’t know, I don’t think so. I like the way the thicker lugs make the watch wear more like a 42mm watch. In the end, I decided to buy and not to wait. I wanted the 3130 movement. I didn’t want to risk a price increase. And if a thinner lug, red line of text Sub comes out, it will be, I’m sure, years till I can get one at an AD. So, to answer the question, the watch wears great on my wrist. Yes, it is boxier than the 14060. But it looks amazing and wears great. I’m thrilled with my purchase and this watch, no matter what else I ever get, will be my daily wear for the rest of my life. |

I had this same thought in my mind and I recently pulled the trigger on the 114060. Didn't want to wait for a sub update that might not materialize

I’d buy now as anything coming out of Basel will be a while before available.

If basel releases something, flip the 114060 for 7k and move on, or you have your watch already anyway.

I'd wait for a new model and keep waiting. I mean, I absolutely love everything about my 114060, but it really is pretty awful. The lugs are particularly disgusting and fat. Uh, gross... I know lug-shaming probably isn't PC in 2019, and I am sorry, but who can help themself.

Under this theory the wait would be infinite. Buy what you want now and enjoy the watch.

If you like the the fat lugs buy now. I personally do not like it which is why I don't have a sub. If I want a square watch I will get reverso
If you do wait for Basel, and new sub comes out your wait unless your vip with AD could be up to years as everyone will want new sub Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you are asking this question you should definitely wait.

This, plus if it is a ss sports watch could take much longer unless you are a big spender at the AD.

At this point, you might as well wait just in case. It sucks to buy a watch just to have something you like a lot more appear a month later. And, if there's a hot new thing at Basel that you're not interested in, it will still take some of the price pressure off the watch you do buy.

If you wait you may be waiting for a loooooong time and take into account the MRSP of the 114060 will be going up soon, so waiting may cost you up to an added 10%. If you don't care about that then that's not an issue.

I don’t really care much for the movement. The 3130 is a proven workhorse. I’m acquiring this piece as a weekend/vacation watch anyway, so 48 hrs reserve time will be more than enough.
Thinner lugs would’ve been the only feature I would wait for, but highly doubt Rolex would do that. Worst case, I can just flip it. Anywho, just placed the order. Will post pix in a few weeks! :) |

Wait! There are about 300 pieces of 114060 being offered right now on Chrono24, from which approx. 45% are from 2018 and 2019.
There will be more than enough modern 114060 to buy second hand. |

Not interested in any secondhand pieces and don’t plan on selling either (unless I really hate the fat lugs). :)

Well, around 95% of the 2018/2019 watches are NIB. So, there are many flippers out there. You would not buy it secondhand, IMO. And if you don’t like the fat lugs, then your watch will be one more among all the offered. That’s what leads me to think that it is better to wait and see if they come up with a new model. Unless you can’t wait. |
