Need Help - Trying to identify a rolex I've inherited Datejust 16233
So as the Title suggests I have recently inherited a Rolex watch from my grandfather so don't actually know too much about it. In his earlier years he was an important accountant, he had many things including this watch which he had gotten as a gift but never personally liked the look of and had put it away for many years (perhaps 20+?)
I have scoured the internet trying to find this exact watch somewhere else and although i can find almost identical matches, either the bracelet is different (this has a singular middle link rather than multiple smaller links) or the face itself is different ( steel rather than gold ). Although i find the spacing between letters to be exact, the cyclops eye is near perfect from the best of what i can tell but i cannot find any marking in the bevel or between the lugs at either the 6 or 12 end. As most of you can probably tell I don't really have any real experience or knowledge about watches especially older Rolex watches. My real concern is that this is a faked watch although most of the popular ways mentioned online point to a real watch hence why i'm here asking the select few with real knowledge. I should have 3 images attached to this post for further help/information. |

Have to admit, a bit gutted!
I feel quite daft thinking it may have been real, to be fair i had some real suspicions about it and the fact i couldn't find any serial numbers between the lugs had me worried. Any information or tips for recognizing this in the future as the motion of the hand, looks ect seemed very real to my untrained eye! Thank you to those who posted though, it's perhaps destined for the bin now! |

We don‘t discuss fakes here, but if you stay a bit longer, you‘ll learn that grandfathers have a tendency to pass fakes for a start
