Sounds like that is pretty close to MSRP, although I can't say. I'm in Canada, and the Rolex website displays CAD by default, so I'm not sure what MSRP is in USD.
I know from experience that it is really tempting to do a rather impulsive purchase, and maybe kind of talk yourself into the watch being the one you really want. Just be sure it really is the one you want. I am no expert, but in resale on gold watches you could take quite a hit. Anyway, I know it is tempting. While I am not really a Daytona fan, I can certainly see the beauty in that model (I just looked it up on the Rolex website). Hope you end up getting exactly the one you want. If this is indeed "it", then look forward to pics. Cheers, Carl

I'm still looking for that WG blue daytona locally so I can see what it looks like. I was fully set on buying it if Basel 2019 doesn't have anything I like until I saw both the YG and WG YM2 so now I might buy a YM2 instead of the WG blue daytona (which can change again if I actually get to see that daytona).

I am quite fortunate that I also own my grail. It wasn’t without sacrifice, but it’s all mine.

FWIW Govberg actually has a teeny tiny section of their store for pre-owned. Most of their preowned stock is housed in their (Govberg/Watchbox) headquarters outside of Philly where it is by appointment only. I do agree it’s terrible optics to be an AD and then have their pre-owned arm selling the same “used” watches for above retail. Such are these crazy times. OP, by the time you are ready to buy that blue dialed Daytona, price may come back down . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Govberg sucks
I bought many watches from them over the years. When Karen was there it was a pleasure. Now it's all about how much money they can make. The manager is a phony. Promised things and failed to deliver. I would never do business with them again

Yeah you can’t buy this watch sight unseen. It’s much larger than expected. For a Patek it is a “large” watch that pics don’t really portray Oddly for a $40k+ watch the leather strap from that comes with it is woefully inadequate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Honestly, my "holy grail" used to be a a JC Deepsea but that has settled down because of the impracticality of the watch.
I consider a "holy grail" something I want to own in the future but isn't entirely realistic. That takes out the Explorer II and Pepsi which are both watches I want to own one day but are still achievable. A 5711 and 15202 are two watches on my distant radar that are both very hard to get and not in budget so those two are an option. As far as vintage Rolex, love the 1655. 1016 is another one I'm a big fan of but I'd have a really hard time putting down that kind of cash for such a simple watch. |

I’m not sure I believe in the concept of grail watches .. there are a lot of references I like but I honestly don’t think I have one be all end all grail.
