New Explorer is fantastic
Greetings all, alot of time lurking about. My first Rolex purchase was an Explorer II way back in 1982. So what better excuse than to buy yet another 30 years almost to the day later!
The watch is fantastic. Although only a few hours old-I am very satisfied. The newer style bracelet and clasp is a huge improvement over the old stamped steel. As soon as I got home I immediately put the watch on my Elma (witschi) Watchmatic. As a part-time watchmaker for over 30 years, this machine is a necessity. For the WIS- yep, got's to get you one!! The following pics are the watch on the machine in a crown left position, crown down, dial up and a close up of the watch. The balance amplitude will always be greater dial up or dial down due to less friction in the escapement. ("dial down and crown up" are the remaining of the 5 positions the movement is adjusted to). Beat error is simply the difference between the tic and the tock- 0.3ms is acceptable in a quality movement. The watch is very comfortable-it was a case of looking in the displa and immediately knowing-I NEED this watch! For you guys that have never tested a brand new or freshly serviced watch-this is what it should look like.[IMG][IMG] |

Great post!!!!
I love your witschi Congrats on the new Explorer I would love to gets me one of those witschis but I don't know I would get the use myself personally, or it may lead me to trying a bit of amateur surgery on my beauties that could end in tears Anyway I love looking at yours.

Great post and I love your watch. IMO it is the most under appreciated Rolex in the current lineup. The simplicity of the dial and perfect size really makes this watch special.

Beautiful, still regret selling my 1016. This watch is an equiValent to a Patek 3796, understated, classic, and elegant.
