Cool, I hope you'll also tell us about how the artistic/business side of the collaboration went. It's always interesting to know how a project came to life - from various angles.

Being from this industry, i feel bad that the “professionals” didn’t advise you instead of telling you that you couldn’t do it. I believe that you could have done it. You showed grit and willingness, those qualities would have done fantastically with decent advice.
The common skeletal projects here are based on the 6497 or HP 40 movements, that way, young students can hone their skills on easily available parts in order to step up their game and move on to more advanced movements. They are also advised by mechanics teachers in order to understand material properties and how skeletal work can be achieved without impeding the structural integrity of the movement.
Methodolgy is also taught, for example how you design the cuts prior to sawing off bits of brass.
It’s too bad that you feel that people from that industry feel that they need to “show” they are from the industry. It’s not really about showing, but more about passion and ethics. I wish that you would have practiced before damaging a movement that will never be able to be brought back to the fine piece of technology it is.
I feel bad that you didn’t take the time to print out the cuts and follow carefully thought out lines. Because to be honest, you could have done it, not necessarily with skills, but with patience and respect. You show the potential and it’s sad to see that you didn’t even find it necessary to dress your screwdrivers.
I’d also advise against titanium paint because paint won’t hold long enough for your daughter to inherit the watch.
If you go for a coating, go for rhodium or ruthenium plating. You will have to refinish those parts better, but at least it won’t be a “cache-misère” like that paint you are talking about.

Amazing work!

Just curious, why no hour markers?

Thanks, because wanted hide less movement by a dial even if minimalist, according to me masterpiece is the movement, but technically you must have a dial due to hour wheel and chronos subdials informations, so this one was built only for the essential fonctions of the watch. Even with this one you could easily know what time it’s, many watches are like this, had the same apprehension at the beginning but no difference than one with the indexes.

Yes well... First of all, I admire your creativity. What counts is that you had pleasure in building something new and as long as it is your watch you can do anything with it you want.
But I have to agree with SearCart that in my opinion a perfect Daytona is ruined. The reason (most) people buy a Rolex is because it is perfect, in every detail, from the finishing of the wheels to the dial, the hands and even the size of the letters.
So basically you have un-Rolexed a Rolex. Because you know what they say at Rolex; If it's not perfect, it's not Rolex

So watch now is dismantling for finishing job, here are pics

This level of finishing job is really awesome, this polishing is called “poli noire” or black polish effect, really hard to get, need a huge job and experience for, even for angles job,

I really hope you didn’t pay them for black polishing, becuase I can assure you, that is not it. The below pictures outlines what black polishing is. I don’t mean to be harsh here, but horologically speaking, that finish is terrible.

I paid them for the finishing job on movement, they prepared parts before rhodium treatment, angles, and this polish is one done for before it, according to me really beautiful, maybe not the black one, ok will ask for more information about their job, thanks for your reply,

You are going to have so many issues with this watch. Your mainplate has no structural integrity. I know you mentioned in a previous post that you plan on making these and selling them, but please, listen to me when I tell you that it is a terrible idea.

It’s a very interesting remark, yes this is a normal question, i even had it before I start, but because there is a but, the complete integrity of the movement is assumed by all bridges that’s are parts of it, means in case of the main plate for exemple, the balance bridge assuming integrity of the parts of main plate cut at this placement, same for the barrel place, in fact here it’s the barrel itself and the barrel bridge than assuming the structural integrity, after there’s the train wheels bridge and the chrono bridge and auto wind module bridges.

So finally if you look only at one part of course it’s a normal remark but you have to see the complete movement, as each bridges are here to made this structural integrity.

This is how are build all the skeleton movement.

Btw if for exemple on the cutting process mainplate bent you will see it just by fit in the train wheels bridge, this one could not go on.

Hope my explanations where clear,

Absolutely awesome my friend. Nothing wrong with taking a mass produced watch and making it truly YOURS. I love it!

Still curious to the final result. As the pics shown above are still showing a shoddy job...
