New 5712 dial?

Have you noticed that there’s a difference in dial between the early models and the layer ones?

Wondering when the new dial came out. I compared my friend’s and mine side by side and noticed that the minute markers are different.

Anybody know when this new dial was introduced?

Each dot will add another 10k to the resale price.

That’s so cool! Let me add another 20k for the thicker plots

You know when I picked up the 12 about a year ago, someone at a party mentioned the new dots on the bottom, I never noticed before. But almost none of the 5712’s for sale on Chrono have the larger dots. Not sure if there’s any benefit to them.

I have the old dial with all dots the same size, the new larger "25/35 min. past the hour" dots would likely make it easier / faster to read the exact time between 24 and 37 minutes past the hour as this typically requires mote than a glance on my "old" dial. So a nice little upgrade.

I actually find it easier to quickly identify the exact time when the minutes hand is in that “window” as well as easier to set the minutes during that time.

Epic upgrade! Lol

I had mine serviced last year, got it back in November with a new dial but I didn't notice a change.
I posted a picture on another watch site and mentioned it was back from service and he said "you got the new dial".
I didn't know what was new until this thread.

Hour / 5-minute markers. Makes it a bit easier to tell exact time in the sub-dial region.

Make sure you tell them not to molest the dial before service ,
BTW I don t think they replace the dial ,they may just enlarge that two dots.

Interesting. Did you specifically request it was changed or they just changed it during a regular service?

That could be the case. Perhaps adding to any that go in for service as well as the new dials. I’d quite like that done during service, looks handy.

I think there has been 2-3 different dial variation for the 5712.
1. 2006-2009, Geneva Seal, with 4 red dots at 12, 1 dot at 48 for power reserve, more green lum, greenish blue dial color
2. 2010-201x, Patek Seal, with 3 red dots at 12, 2 dot at 48 for power reserve, whiter lum, blue grey dial color
3. 201x-Present, Larger dot at 7 and 5 o'clock

The weird thing is these variations never reflected on price. I suppose Geneva seal should be more rare and sought after, but I guess there is the 3712 on top.

no doubt ,but the best in 3712 isn t the dial rather its original case.

What’s the difference in the case between the 3712 and the 5712?

3712 original 2 pieces case(no caseback just case and bezel) as on the first Nautiluses .
5712 regular 3 pieces case(bezel,case,caseback)

Hey everyone, I don't mean to hijack this thread. I'm looking at the 5712 that my friend is getting today, he took a pic of it and the dial is more grey than blue. I don't see the blue hue on it as his 5726 or my 5740. Does anyone see similar grey color on the 5712-1A?

in certain light conditions it s definetly(surprisingly)more greyish , but no worry the blue is there.
