Grease Glidelock

Hi TRF

I just cleaned by sub bracelet in my ultrasonic cleaner (without the watch head).

It is nice and clean now. Does any grease need applying to the glide lock mechanism as I am sure it had some white grease when I got the watch new a few years back. Not much and not anywhere else on the bracelet or clasp; purely the glidelock part.

I don't want to apply any unless it is a specific grease Rolex uses. Without any I am sure it would be fine but if they use it I guess so should I?

Thank you in advance.

Rolex does grease many of the metal-to-metal parts initially.

Usually it is white-lithium grease that is used, brand name Fomblin.

In related to your question about the glidelock, but I’ve used silicone grease on the winding stems of my Seikos ... they are notoriously gritty.

None needed on my Rolexs or Panerais

This is a hilarious thread. The Submariner, like mine, and my Sea-Dwellers, are dive watches. During three seasons they spend literally hours underwater. Grease? Are you nuts? I just had my LV serviced not long ago and of course the RSC didn't put any grease on it externally.

Ultrasonic cleaning usually has a degreasing agent in the liquid. This dissolves all grease.

Regular water or salt water will not dissolve Fomblin.

RSC will always grease the tube, caseback, bezel and also the glidelock. It doesn't have to be applied so thick that you see it after using it a few times...
