ANOTHER fat lady

So.....I've found another fat lady that seems reasonably priced...
Do the dial, hand, and insert looks genuine (of the time) and any thoughts on the case....It looks like it's not too over polished to me and still retains the original geometry....please tell me if i'm wrong!

Thanks in advance.

“Swiss Made” indicates a service dial / non-period.

I own a fat lady and the dial is a service dial. As for the hands...don't know. Either case....I have a service dial on mine and I still love the crap out of it. I picked up three extra inserts and it's such a cool and changeable watch. 16710 gets more love online but I really think these shorter run 16760 watches are great.

Swiss T-25 is not present so that indicates service dial. Case looks very nice overall, if it’s a good price why not.

I let a Fat Lady gone in 2017 at barely 6.5k€ that I regret so much !
I am also looking for a 1985 Fat Lady model...

At that price point, I would go with a 1675.

Me too but it depends what the buyer wish for...he asked for a 16760...

If I'm looking for a 14060, do not propose me a 5513, I already have one...

He’s asked about several options on forums beyond a 16760. When people do that it tells me they may not have their mind made up and should not limit their choices, possibly due to lack of awareness. Especially important not to make a decision and have buyers remorse at a price point of the example shared, when that opens up other options.

Best of luck on your hunt. It's part of the fun. I have been looking for an all original one every once in a while but have not not found one. It is not the easiest reference to find which I kinda like about it.

ANOTHER fat lady

I don’t think these cases originally had chamfered lugs.

The dials of this era didn’t hold up well so it’s not uncommon to see either a really rough original dial or a service dial. Pick your poison so to speak.

Yes, they had chamfers.

Dials depend on the mark on which ones bubble and which will evenly turn matte. It's about 50/50 or less on which turn matte without degradation. My last 16760 was perfectly matte. And, it had its original chamfers.

Thanks.

Have any pics? I’d love to see that.

They must have been pretty fat lugs from new since the fat lugs I see on vintage FLs don’t have a chamfer.

I see the faint hint of a chamfer in these photos. Was your watch like this when new?

I wonder who buys his watches. They are always priced very high.

The sides on this one were mildly polished at one point but the chamfers and tops of the lugs were never touched. Dial was a "non date" that turned perfectly matte with no bubbling, and I sourced a period-correct NOS insert.

I have an original fat lady as well... and have done a lot of research on them. The original cases did have very small chamfers. Most watches have then rounded off from wear so they are no longer visible. I also have one of the models whos dial has turned matte. As 037 mentioned, some of them went all speckled and blistered, some turned beautifully matte. As for values, I am seeing good examples listed for anywhere from 11 to 15k without box and papers and models with box and papers for around 20k. What they sell for? Who knows....

With how "fat" the chamfers are on this one along with the Luminova service dial I would suspect that the case has likely been expertly re-polished.

Either way, it is a beautiful watch.

Yeah I’m kicking myself. I had been looking for one about 10 years ago when they were $2500-$5000. $7ish for a perfect one but I was unable to find one I was happy with.

What brings you to the conclusion that the insert is a service part and not period correct on that example?
