Those of you who have had both, or looked at both, can you talk about your thoughts and impressions please.

White gold&rose gold. I was this close to buy (first the white, then the rose..), but didn’t do it. Amazing piece, both versions IMO. What might distract is the size: sometimes one might get the feeling having a wall clock on your wrist. Rg is very loud for a Patek, but damn elegant. Wg is more urban. No matter which one you choose, can’t go wrong. Not for everyone, but that’s the reason why it is so unique!!! OP: Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for the side by side! The brown dial on the rose gold appears to be sunburst? The blue dial is quite flat and matte. In fact, it's kind of textured.

Leaning to the R but wonder if I'll miss the G. Don't wear it all that much.

Guess it won't be a big deal to trade back the other way! Not like there's a dearth of these watches out there...

I have the G, and recently handled the R. IMO, the G is more versatile and casual while the R is a little more dressy and formal (for a casual watch). I prefer the G on a blue strap vs the tan calf oem strap, while the R matches the tan calf strap better. I prefer the dial color on the G, but really like the texture difference on the date wheel on the R, where the G is the same texture throughout.

I personally wouldn’t own both and can’t justify having both at that cost in the collection.

I guess it’s easier for me to pick because I had/have owned both , but at end I think they are both cool and hard to choose wrong here

I had an opportunity to buy 5224g at 39k last week and decided not to buy it. IMHO when looking at it something seems not right with the watch rather than being PP. I also saw the red gold , WG is definitely better.

I have several custom Patek straps incoming for my white gold model. Want to see how that feels before moving on to the rose.

I think so,
I had several straps when I had the G and I have 3 straps for my current 5524R.
I found out that with my 5524G I changed straps often and with my 5524R not so much. I think the G is more plain and you need new dressing more often, The R version in the other hand has more going with the rose gold case and chocolate dial that needs is less.

If I had the watch, I'd put a deployant on it. Buckle watches get dropped from time to time when putting them on.

Just checked on Chrono24, and just in the USA for the 5524G there are 43 offerings, did the same search for the 5524R and came up to 20 offerings.
It makes sense to an extent because the G version came out first but doubt that’s the only reason because the difference is a little more than double.

I was in a similar situation, debated between the G and R. I found the G little too flat but the R and it’s chocolate sunburst dial really stood out and sang to me.

I much prefer the G. Beautiful watch. I see they’re selling for about $38k on the grey market. Do you think prices will come down this year? I think $35k is a good price for the G.

I think prices will come down. They were at 40k just a few months ago and now about 38k. When new models are announced at Basel and demand for the 5524 drops I think gray prices will come down even more. Crazy to buy this watch from an AD for $50k...

Hi Hideki4,

Much appreciated. That's what I think too. The only thing that would drive prices up is if PP withdrew the watch, and they've listed those already, or PP released a new 5524 at Basel, which created a massive buzz with the social media set. Cant see it myself.

What's your guess on where prices will stabilise for the G? I don't see them dropping below $30k this year. Maybe $33-35k perhaps?

$50k? Woah, that's like paying $38k for a 5167!! Crazy world: $38k for a 5524G or a 5167. Madness.

I have the R and love it...but I have to say that I do like the dial on the G a little more. It feels like it’s more versatile. The R dial makes it a little more difficult to make the R “fun”
