New Royal Oak 2020

I was just in the AP boutique and was told that there will be some exciting new things from AP in 2020. Anyone have insight to what the employee may have been referring to? Possibly another colored dial on the a Royal Oak?

Thanks

Yes it is a complete NEW line. They look like the current RO but with colored straps instead of bracelets. Only vvvvips and influenca will be allowed to buy bracelets for them. The strap color you get depends on how many codes you have bought before.

Am I?

In the meantime the color scheme leaked:

Pink strap: cheap guy, only bought 1 code

Red strap: chinese influenca with way more money than taste&sense

Blue strap: Bought 10 codes or more. Gets invited to golf if client has no sex anymore.

In addition new royal oak line will be limited to 100 pieces per year so greys and flippers get their fair share.

I heard that they are going to release a range of 50mm ROO’s and they are going to rebadge the 44mm range as ladies watches. Anyone with a 44mm is going to find themselves a laughing stock. Sell now people, before it’s too late!

I also heard that they are going to discontinue the Royal Oak range as it is believed that it won’t be required going forwards, as everyone wants an 11:59.

AP releases exciting new RO models every year. This is not news by any stretch.

A new in-house ROC line up perhaps?

The only thing I heard is that since AP is not participating in SIHH anymore, that they will instead be releasing new watches around once per quarter.

If lucky, get rid of the Code line and sell it to Michael Kors.

I have been so turned off by AP past couple of years, I hardly care what they come up with. They seem to be catering to bigger and louder, which is just not my cup of tea. And the code is just ugly.

Ha, that's exactly what I told my SA when asked why I wasn't interested in the Code. I said the dial looked like it was a Michael Kors designed watch. Case was great, but dial...not for me.

There are good things to be made, if only AP will listen to it's core collector base.

I would be thrilled to see new 42mm Offshores with the new chrono movement. If it happens, will be interesting to see how the subdials space out. Haven't seen the new Code chrono next to a ROC, but my guess is that the central axes of the subdials are spaced apart a bit more.

Yes, that is happening. There looks to be a new 42 ROO redesign that will be released. New movement is incorporated. Not sure about the 44 line at this point. It may not be changing this time around.

New Royal Oak 2020

My AD told me they are going to start with a new ROO diver with a movement update, let’s see..

as far as new off-shore chronos, thats a hard one, the new in-house chrono movement is quite thin in comparison to the movement used in the ROOC, they will probably start with the ROC first.

Also the new in-house chrono movement has a completely diff dial layout than the offshore chrono layout, plus they just put the 1185 FP movement the new ROOC (26480ti) with 44 like pushers.. so its hard to guess where they are going next..

It would make sense to update the Diver with the calibre 4302. Im very curious about is what design updates it will get.

Bvlgari Octo Finissimo is now 100m water resistant. I think AP should be able to do the same to the Royal Oak

I think they will update the 42 and divers with the movements introduced in the Code line last year.

No 42 ROO on new movement will be presented this year. Maybe 44.
