Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Thoughts/Questions?

Hey all!

I want to kind of calm down on my watch buying this year, but recently have really gotten RO's stuck in my head. One last watch....

My Jumbo has to be my favorite watch in my current collection, and the Perpetual Calendars look wonderful. Wish I could afford an openworked version, but all the PC models appeal to me.

Ultimately, I'd be in for a SS model, and probably the discontinued silver dial. I know the blue dial is more in demand, but the silver appeals to me as I like how the moon phase looks on silver, and I already have the Jumbo in blue.

Anyone here have one or have any thoughts on them? My only strong AD relationship is with Rolex, so I would most assuredly be on my own with the grey market.

Appreciate any advice or thoughts!

One of my absolute favorite watches of all time, haven't worn anything else in the last two months since I've gotten mine. Just wears perfectly.

I like hearing that!

Are there any special things to know about? Is it a really short duration in between services (I am sure they are 2K+) or any other issues that you are aware of? They look magnificent, and the complication is killer. Just wondering if there are any hidden "gotchas."

Not that I'm aware of, it's a really solid piece and well worth the investment as far as I'm concerned. I would try to go to the boutique to chat with them about whether or not they can source you one, you never know, you can get lucky.

Historically speaking, I've actually seen boutiques get steel and rose gold perpetual calendars before that weren't allocated to anyone and sat for a little bit, good to show your interest to those boutiques in hopes that you'd be the call to get one when it comes in. This just recently happened with a rose gold one in NYC actually. Here's a pic of it with mine.

Thanks! Yours looks fantastic. I love it. What a watch. I am a big fan of the SS silver dial for my collection which kind of kills the Boutique as they are out of the catalogue. I was just in Doha though and had a great time at the Boutique there, so worth a shot I suppose when I am there on business.

They had none when I was there I might add, as I asked.

you probably already know this but this model only has 20m water resistance and the power reserve is only 40 hours. Both are inexplicably low at this price point, but at least AP includes a watch winder in the case.

Those are the kind of gotchas I was talking about. Great info. Thanks!

I have a pretty nice Wolf for winding but did not know the PR was only 40 hours. And 20M is laughable, but I suppose I wouldn't be swimming with it anyway.

So, not many good photos of the silver dial on the internet. Found some stock photos like the one below, but does anyone have a nice wrist shot of it? Beautiful watch in all configurations I think.

In my opinion. Silver dial go 15400, blue dial PP 5712, black dial AP perpetual ceramic, rose gold AP open work. Just need to come up with $300k & you’re good. If you want to view one in silver, Govberg in Philadelphia has one for sale, and at a decent price, especially for them. The green is pretty cool too.

My favourite AP in my collection... beats the openworked too in my opinion.

The white dial has been discontinued. I think you can get from Chrono24 for a lot less than msrp. It seems like a good buy.

It’s lovely on a rubber strap too. Watch is wonderful but my only gripe is lack of a seconds hand making quite static at a times.

The rose gold and the stainless steel perpetual calendar watches with the blue dials are amazing!!

The Stock photos online don’t do the watches justice. They look beautiful on the wrist in the images above.

I’m really starting to love this brand!!
