For whatever it’s worth, my 5 year old says he likes it more than my 15500.

Talk about forward planning - FHB has half an eye on the next-generation AP owners already

Honestly, I think the rest of it is pretty awesome. I just wish it didn't have a crouching dude staring at me.

If it was Wakanda symbols, Black Panther colors, and Vibranium-like materials (maybe some unique blend of titanium and some other metal), I'd be all over it.

Heck, I'd even buy two! With the exception of a dude on the dial, the concept is pretty awesome, especially at 42MM.

Huge missed opportunity here.

The size looks great.

And again, it just goes to show how CRAP AP's own pictures are.

My prediction remains that AP will sell them all, if they haven't already, and once they're gone, people will realize how much they want one...

My boutique told me they will receive 2 pieces and have 4 people waiting (now 5 including myself). Its an amazing piece. Id take this over any plastic RM anyday.

Proof that the hands actually extend from the black panthers thigh and not his groin.

Doesn't matter if you have to go that close to confirm that they extend from his thighs and not his groin.

It looks like his groin. :)

Mind-boggling someone would pay to wear this but hey, if it makes someone happy, it's a winner for the owner and that's all that counts.

I’ve never read a comic in my life and had no real interest in the collaboration however I think this watch on the wrist with the tourbillon is stunning.

I'm confident if they did a Pokemon, Starwars or Simpsons edition they would have customers for those as well, but I think the real question is not are there buyers for these, but is this good for the brand, and should it be done? There is a reason you would never see this from the other top 10, even the top 20, watch brands.

You’re correct, the other brands are boring and wouldn’t dare to risk it. Try getting an appointment at an AP House right now, it’s never been so busy, the brand is currently experiencing hugely increased demand. 25 new killer releases and you guys have a problem with the 2 that relate to Black Panther which account for 256 watches and I suspect many of the most vocal here aren’t VIP enough to qualify for anyway so what’s the problem?

Well put.

Nobody’s forcing anybody to like or purchase anything. One collaboration won’t kill a brand no matter how “out there” it may be in one’s view.

Most don’t qualify anyway - it’s like me complaining about a Bugatti collab with Hermes - I’m no VIP/VVIP of either brand.

Just continuing for the sake of exploring this ....what's the problem?

Well for me personally, the image and integrity of the brand have taken a hit. True it is one model, for now, and a limited edition, but to be honest, if this was just an edition like the other new 25 releases, I could easily dismiss it. But when you go to the AP website you are immediately hit with the above, as if you landed on a rollout page of a new marvel / Taco Bell menu or possibly a new gaming graphics card. This piece has been media blitzed like nothing they have ever done and imo, done in horrible taste and the complete opposite of what the brand has embodied and built up for over 100 years. The launch video and auction were a level of cringe and embarrassment on a level that was hard to watch. I can assure you the other brands do not do something like this not out of fear of "risking it" and "trying something new", they simply know the same thing that 90% of the customers know and have conveyed, that this is just in bad taste and can only hurt a top 10 horology brand that has spent the better part of 146 years earning its reputation. I will be interested to see how the other edtions roll out based on the response they have received on this.

Presumably, those that are disgusted by the AP association with a cartoon character would be mortified if forced to wear a watch designed by the guy who did this:
