Explorer 2 Polar, Tudor GMT or Speedy SappSandwich for next watch?
Evening lads.
Just settling in for the Champions League Final and using the delay to kick off to check out some images for my next watch. I would LOVE a GMT as I have a passion for travelling. I really think it will add balance to my collection. The Rolex Explorer 2 (polar) is such a hard looking tool Watch. Steel bezel, mostly brushed material, bright watch dial. Beautiful thing. I recently got hands on with a Tudor GMT and was absolutely blown away with the quality for the price. The vintage styling is so cool, the bezel colours. Having a Tudor in my collection will always balance it out. I think it’s cool to purchase different brands, I love my Casio, Timex and recent G Shock. Now, the last option. The new Speedmaster Sapphire Sandwich. The bracelet, the step dial but that case back. Thing of beauty. I could get lost in that movement with a couple glasses of whiskey. I think the Speedmaster will be a great companion to my Seamaster. Although, having a GMT is much more “useful” than a Chrono. Let’s be honest. Would love opinions if anyone has these watches and what you think of my current collection. I would get rid of one of my current 8 watches. As I’m never having more than 8 at any time. I think the Speedy is more "special" and it would, in fact did, get my vote (the Hesalite version). Timeless watches with some real heft and history. But, if you want a GMT it won't scratch the itch...

To be fair, I agree. The Speedy is “special”. I get the romance behind it. I was super impressed with a lot of the watch when I tried it on recently. I’m hoping that IF I go Speedy, I can get a little discount off the retail price. As the Sapphire Sandwich is trading around £800 under retail on the grey market. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's tough call, as they're all great choices. If we're picking nits, though...
As much as like Tudor (and own several), every time I look at that GMT I'm reminded of Basel 2018, and the mixed reaction I had even then. Awesome watch, but just a little "me too"-ish for my tastes: Pepsi-GMT (Custom).jpg Yes, I realize the same could be said of much/most of Tudor's heritage line, but at least the Black Bay and Pelagos draw from Tudor-branded refs. Splitting hairs here though, so don't let this put you off a great watch. Speedy is an icon, of course, and the new cal. is technological marvel and significant update to the outgoing 1861. Personally though, I've always found the "moonwatch" (Speedy Pro) a bit underwhelming. If I'm going classic, give me the straight (not twisted) lugs, smaller case, and the legendary 321. I'm actually waiting on that exact watch (the "Ed White") as I type this. For my fun/quirky Speedmaster, I went with this stunning little throwback, which blends the modern Speedy aesthetic with the vintage snail-dial Chronoscopes of the 1930s: 20211222_202944 (Custom).jpg As for my critiques of that glorious Polar Exp2, well... |

Have the Tudor gmt and I wish I went speedy myself. I’m thinking of selling the Tudor for the speedy (and some extra cash of course). I like the Tudor but at times it feels a little too thick for me.

I think speedmaster=polar explorer II>>>Tudor for my tastes. If I had to pick one, I would have a very hard time with choosing speedy vs exp 2. The hunt is a lot of fun. Enyoy it’s!

In a vacuum, the Speedmaster. But since you want a GMT and given your collection, the white Explorer II seems the obvious choice.

All good choices but the speedy is something special. Still one of my top favorites.

Had a Polar Exp II, great watch but a little too big for my ~7 inch wrist so got sold.
Currently own a new version Speedmaster 3861 and it’s a wonderful watch. The bracelet, the dial, the movement and the accuracy are all amazing. Never been a fan of the Tudor BB GMT, too much heft and not a fan of the colours. Now if you are talking about Tudors and GMTs, the new 39mm BB pro, that looks like a lovely watch and worth adding to your shortlist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I really like the Tudor and the price point. The date wheel issue is real though.

I'll try to answer from your perspective - any of these would work well in your collection.
Exp2 - Should be top priority! This gets my vote GMT - I think you'd like it, would complement the others Speedy - Sure, since you already like Omega Ditch the gold watch on the right. |

Can't go wrong with any of those. The choice is yours.
ExpII is the standout for me. |

I own all three of the watches that you are considering and enjoy all three of them. The big question is can you get the Rolex through an AD? If so, and you have the funds and will part with them then it is the choice for me. The Speedmaster is a super cool watch and is a strap and bracelet monster. The Tudor GMT is a great watch and again looks great on the bracelet, OEM leather and NATO. The Tudor is the most economical watch of the lot and in balancing value with appearance and wear it would be my choice if you did not want to part with the funds for the Explorer II. No bad choice here only personal preference and money. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I would vote for the Explorer II and then add a Speedy later on.

I would get all three, and lose three from what you've got pictured, TBH.
If that's not an option, it would be between the Tudor and the EXP2, based on your self-described love of traveling. Both great watches. Good luck |

That watch was my grandad’s Seiko Quartz. He wore that on his final days. I’ve had it since the 90s. Easily the most important watch I have. It’s rather fragile though so only really wear it around the house. Cheers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Cheers. I would love to one day own one of the GMT’s and a Speedy. The Timex and two Casio’s, I enjoy wearing for work and sorting out the garden. Obviously they will be retired in a heartbeat if I’m able to replace them with one of these on the shortlist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks so much for uploading those pictures. The Tudor looks amazing. Really liked how it looked on my wrist. The Explorer 2 is “obviously” a beautiful watch. The dial is so crisp. It’s quite possible I could go down the route of Speedy and then Tudor GMT on the grey market. That will be roughly the same amount of money as the Explorer 2 I think. I traded my omega speedmaster and cash for a polar recently. To be fair, I will buy another speedmaster again- going to look at a speedmaster with box and papers next week...

Personally would go with the ExpII. Fantastic watch if it fits your wrist.I think the speedy is a little too expensive for the money and quality these days. Tudor GMT is a fantastic watch as well but a little thick.
