Explorer 214270- lume
I got this a few weeks ago, new from AD and enjoying it greatly. A few observations, I wonder if unusual. First, I don't find the lume so strong. But I think that may be part of Rolex- I gather if lume is a big concern, you may be in the wrong place. I find it weaker than on my Seiko. And... unless I am mistaken, it is not blue. I'm an old guy and my eyes aren't that great, but I don't see it as blue, it is more like what is on my Seiko, kind of greenish. I love the watch and have enjoyed your interactions. Any opinions, experience or thoughts on these observations re the lume? Thank you!

Wearing my Explorer this morning, about to board flight from Bologna to London and the lume, or lack, has never been an issue. Mine has the white gold 3,6,9 numerals and so called short hands, it’s a fantastic watch to me.

thanks Jack! I had that one and later moved to the newer one. I may have judged it too fast. It is different but very similar too. I think I am off in my expectations of Rolex lume though... I bet u had it for awhile and are enjoying it, that is the way it should be!

may I suggest, testing the lume with a UV light.. under immediate UV light exposure whilst watch is still under the light, the lume should be a very bright green... move the UV light away, and it should "dim" slightly" to a blue hue.. the SL lumes of the modern Rolexes are actually green, but the tone in which it should appear after being "charged" should reflect a blue.. Not sure if this explanation is too confusing, but give it a try and see if this works...

how do you get a picture like that... yes, mine is similar. I am embarrassed to say, I almost wondered if maybe mine was an older one w short hands and solid numerals and sent back to Rolex and updated, and all under the guise of the AD lol Crazy, huh... man, I dig this watch. I have owned quite a few too, and have had a few Rolexes, and none have moved me like this one.

Mine is the same, I consider that color more blue than green. For me (I need +1.5 reading glasses) the lume is good enough to see the time if I wake up in the middle of the night, while it could be better. |
