What watch would Bond wear today?
Thread has come up before but based on my search it has been years and we have new references.
Firstly, the choice doesn't have to be a Rolex but this being the rolexforums I'm sure many will be nominated. For me, the Explorer I is still a great choice. It can be worn in any situation and it'll fly under the radar while still epitomizing class and functionality. I know some people will say the Sub but I don't think Bond would choose the watch that is more associated with corporate boardrooms than tool functionality. When Connery wore the watch, it was bold, big, and different than the norm. Most people in Bond's social circles would still be sporting dainty dress watches while he was rocking a big (for the time) 38mm sports watch. A hybrid of Craig's and Connery's Bond might choose the SD43. It's the ruggedness of those big Omega divers while maintaining the core Rolex DNA. It can certainly be substituted for a knuckleduster as well. lol... My knock on this choice is that it just might be too Rolex and loud but the modern Bond watches aren't exactly subtle. Though, maybe I'm entirely too biased as these are two watches I love. Love to hear your thoughts. |

GMT so he can track his reference time zone, meaning he can call M while he's assassinating people

Bond would never wear the Explorer...but he will certainly pick the SD43.
If he ever wears an Explorer, I'll lose respect for him LOL. |

The official US release date of the 25th untitled James Bond movie with DC reprising his role as agent 007 is November 8 , 2019 with a traditional earlier release in the UK and the rest of the world. I'm pretty sure you're aware that Omega will be providing DC with two of the latest yet to be release James Bond LE watches based on the new Seamaster 300M Pro Diver and the Aqua Terra models

Daniel Craig's Bond is too much of psychopathic thug compared to the original gentlemanly and classy Bond.
A true bond of today would wear an SD4000 |

On Omega's site they list the Co-Axial Seamaster 41mm, and the Planet Ocean Seamaster 45.5mm as being modern Bond watches.
I think the SD50th would be perfect. |

He wore the large PO in the first half. He switched to the 300M for the latter half, starting on the train to Montenegro. The famous brand-drop line on the train is in reference to the 300M.

Agree that his approach to the character does not embody my imagination of James Bond. I've always been a die-hard Connery fan. I always wished Brosnan had better Bond stories/opportunities for his performance. I thought he had the right spirit for the character but most of his films were mediocre (although GoldenEye was a childhoor favorite of mine). Meanwhile Craig has had some awesome plots for films (Casino Royale and Skyfall; thought Spectre and Quantum were terrible stories). He just has too much of the Bruce Willis' John McClane "rough around the edges" qualities to his approach. Great actor (think: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Munich, Road to Perdition), but not a great Bond. However, I do respect the fact that he has been very open about taking a totally different approach to the character. He's mentioned before that Connery is his favorite Bond and believed it would be pointless to try and re-create the same type of performance. |

I'll be in the minority but I could see him sporting a DSSD in the 'opening' mission. I'm guessing he'd probably switch to a SD43 or standard Sub for more corporate or dressier situations though. My 0.07 cents anyway....

At Baselworld 2018, Omega VP Product & Customer Service Jean-Claude Monachan said during at interview that Mr Bond will have A WATCH while discussing the new SMP 300M Diver ( I noted he didn't say two watches but with the exception of Quantum of Solace, DC always wore 2 different models ).Jean-Claude became very edgy and defensive when the signature modern James Bond model, the new SMP 300M Diver was suggested as the watch for the movie
The more dressier AT is based on speculations on another forum. My impression from that interview was that Omega already has 3 prototypes for the movie : AT, PO 600 and SMP 300M but the final decision is yet to be made |

114060 would take it back to its roots. Although in the early Fleming books, Bond wore an Explorer.

I think that's a reasonable inference. If the Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial (or, more likely, Co-Axial Master) gets a facelift in 2019, it wouldn't surprise me if that found its way into the movie, too.

SMP 300M Ref 2220.80The watch you were mentioning , the PO worn by DC in Casino Royale in the scene below was auctioned off during Antiquorum's OmegaMania in 2007 and fetched a price tag of US $255 722 . Check out the mud on the dirty watch !

He should probably wear a Sea Dweller, given that he was a Commander in the SBS.
Probably wouldn't be a Deep Sea as it is over-spec'd. Probably wouldn't be the 43mm either as it is oversized to meet a market demand for bigger watches rather than because it needs to be. Probably would be the 116600 or the 16600 as they are more true to being tool watches; hence why they are unpopular with the masses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
