VAT refund

Hello,
I am planning to buy a Rolex watch and claim a vat refund at Heathrow airport.

Rolex sales guy did not accept all cash when buying the watch. So I paid the partial amount and the rest was paid by my brother using his online account.

1. Will there be an issue when i reclaim vat?
2. Is it safe for my brother here in the UK?

Answers are highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

no... you can even get the refund on a totally different card if you prefer had you bought it on another credit card.

You still may get stopped by customs when you bring it back into the UK though and have to explain why you didn't declare it and pay VAT + import fees.

Thanks. The amount paid was partially in cash and the rest was using online transfer. I suppose at the airport, they wouldn't give the vat reclaim in cash as only 30% was paid in cash, the rest was paid using online transfer?

Thanks.

Only 30% of the price of the watch was paid in cash, the rest was paid using online transfer. How would the customs guys pay the vat?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Only 30% of the amount was paid in cash, the remaining amount was paid using online account. How would the customs guys pay back the vat claim, in cash?
