5 digit VS. 6 Digit debate to be settled once and for all!

Greetings all!

It has become obvious that the debate over the superiority of 5 or 6 digit Rolex watches is tearing the world apart!

To settle this once and for all I propose an around the world balloon race, the winner taking all credit and rights to the title of most superior superlative chronometer. Also, an official Rolex cleaning cloth.

Meet me at dawn in Times Square tomorrow for directions to the secret launch site.

I wish to stress this will be a contest of endurance, courage and irrational spending between GENTLEMEN, so no wagering.

Honestly depends on the specific model. I always prefer 5 digit cases but prefer 6 digit bracelets. The case on the 43mm red SD is amazing and I feel you get the best of both worlds however, it wears much too large for my wrist.

I think it really comes down to personal taste. And the fact some folks are always more progressive and comfortable with change than others. But dollar for dollar or pound for pound the new models are way more technologically advanced in so many ways.

For different reasons I like them all.

I have a 5 Sub and would never trade it for a 6 Sub, but I can see myself getting a 6 in addition to the 5.

No need to race or argue; 5 digit is superior to 6 digit in every way!

I like how light my 5 digit is. So comfy. Plus it just looks darn classic.

Love the 6 digits too though. But I think given the way I wear my watch a 5 digit suits me better as its more comfortable.

5 digits are too cool for ceramic and extra metal.

No way will a balloon race will finish this unanswerable situation. A fight to the death using only carrots is a much better idea.
For me five digit sizes with modern upgrades would be nirvana.

I love everything about most 5 digit models except for the small hour markers and hands. For that reason 6 digit wins for me.

That's one of the reasons I like the 5!

I like 6 digit models the most. Next I like the 4 digit versions (I like the look of the acrylic crystals). Lastly, the 5 digit models. I dislike the folded metal clasps way more than is appropriate or reasonable, but I like the acrylic crystals enough to make up for some of it.

6 digit = Jewelry

now we have 2 type of 6 digits
1. the "normal"
2.A the updated like 126710BLRO Jubilee with new 70hr movement
2.B the SD4K

But, Its down to specific models IMO. SD4K is superior to 5 digit 16600 in everything!.

I’d make a concession for another 16613LB if the right one came along. Also for a 16610LV but the prices of those are too high for me. I should’ve kept my first one Oh well

Six digit-models have one more digit than five-digit models. So they're one better.

Because math.

Agree. The fat case gets the extra digit and if you polish it until the cows come home you'll find the 5 digit case in there and even lug holes if you're persistent.

A 6 digit is newer than a 5 digit. New is always better.

I do like everything more on the 6 digit evolution of Rolex's but I do miss my 5 digit Sub and am also thinking of a 5 digit pepsi.

The 5 digit will win the race - it’s lighter.

For Paulie et al.

But the 6 digit models have their good points.

I feel it's down to personal preferences and also depends on the specific model you want. I prefer 5 digit.

5 digits earnt their place as the best tool watches ever made. They still hold that accolade today.
The 6 digit, whilst technically superior in many ways, still hasn’t earnt its place in the ‘all time watches of fame’ like the 5 digits did, but in time, I have no doubt they will.

My 6 digit GMT is my daily tool watch I wear for work, but I can’t help thinking when I wear a 5 digit GMT, of all my aviator or astronaut hero’s who wore them before me and gave the watch the provenance it enjoys today and forever more.
