Would you...?

I have a collection that I am happy with, but I often consider trading the Panerai towards a different piece. Since the latest releases at Basel I am considering getting rid of the Pam for the new Black Bay Fifty Eight or finding a older Black Bay Black ETA. However, part of me feels that the Panerai adds a nice change to my collection, but my itch for something new gets pretty strong at times.

Before anyone says just keep it and add another I can’t do that. I have a rule that one in and one out so I never outgrow my box and also don’t cause any ripples with my wife. Also the Explorer, GMT, Tudor and Breitling all have sentimental value so they are permanent fixtures in my collection. The MKII doesn’t have enough value to do the trade so it’s also not a candidate.

So would you do the trade or leave the box as is?

If you're happy with it, why in the world would you change it?

The itch my friend the itch!! Lol

I have a grass is greener on the other side problem with watches, and have owned a few multiple times. However, since my box mostly consists of sentimental value watches now I have very little wiggle room except for the Pam at this point.

I'd try something new, since you seem interested. The Panerai is nice, but the new Tudors are really something else.

Keep the PAM if it's getting worn.

I’m not a Pam fan so I’d say move it, unless it gets a fair amount of wrist time.

I'd sell the MkII and put the money towards the BB58

As a former Panerai fan I would say let the PAM go and get the Tudor.
It would better fit to your collection.

You could always pick up a PAM later.

Obviously without personal attachment I'd keep the GMT and PAM and move one of the other pieces.

I’d keep the PAM over the 2 options listed.

I’d like to point out, you said you didn’t want to outgrow the box but I see that you have 2 extra watch cushions where the GMT and MKII are...just sayin

I’d move the PAM and Breitling.

The PAM is the largest watch in your collection so the question is how does it fit your wrist and how much wrist time does it really get?

I had a PAM for a few years and really enjoyed the versatility of changing the straps. That being said, it was much larger than any watch in my collection and I felt it was not well-balanced given my wrist size. So I ended up selling it and getting the AP Jumbo 15202ST.

Later I wanted to add a diver to the collection and did have some regrets about selling the PAM. In the end I got a true diver in the Submariner, which I am very happy with.

The point is, if it does get some wrist time,
You will inevitably regret selling it at some point. You can always add another PAM later but you will definitely lose money. The itch does need to be scratched know and you can be sure it will return. Haha.

I love your collection. Specifically the PAM,Pepsi, Explorer. A Black Rose would be a great pickup! Then add a JLC Master control date. And then call it a day.

I won't. With the PAM you can have fun to change different looking straps.

Buy I am biased. You already have one tudor in your collection. That is one more than I want in mine.

The ultimate test for me is if I wear the watch or not. So if you've stopped wearing the PAM, move it in favor of something you'd wear in rotation with the rest. Otherwise, let the itch pass.

You have a few months before the new BB comes out so wear the heck out of the Panerai to see if you still like it.

I think yo I have a very versatile and well rounded collection as is. The itch can be strong I get that. But it would be silly to flip something if you still actually like it. Does the PAM not do it for you anymore?

Gotcha...

Well, I see your point. I would be looking at moving the PAM too, although, full disclosure, not a huge fan. So...I think the Tudors you're looking at would fit in nicely. Happy hunting, my friend.
