What tier at the AD am I?

So I’ve been going to my AD for about a year and a half and have purchased about 25k in jewelry for the wife plus a 31 datejust for her. I have purchased a sub date and Rootbeer. This week I stopped by to say hi and he offered me a fluted 41 datejust Wimbledon dial which I purchased. Do you all think this is in the ballpark to start getting some more VIP treatment like a Daytona or skydweller mint green etc? Or am I still small potatoes? Market is southeast in a good size city

Have you asked your AD?
Or even considered going grey? instead of buying things for the sake of getting what you really crave

The best person to ask about Daytonas and Sky Dwellers is your AD. All we can do is guess.

I love what I’ve bought and that’s what I’ve asked for. So no issue there but I’d still like to keep growing the collection. Of course when I bring up the heavy hitters he notes it but I don’t think there’s real traction there. And no I’m not a guy that’s going to go grey. The jewelry for the wife is stuff I’d buy anyway

Chat with your ad on what you'd enjoy next. Provide a few models.

I have seen Wimbledon dials sitting in the case for sale in both Orlando and Toronto. They are not hard to get. Both of the markets I am in have many customers spending hundreds of thousands per year on watches and jewelry. It’s very common to have someone come in and purchase 2 or 3 Cartier watches at a time.

Agreed. There are million dollar spenders in those markets guaranteed.

OP, I’d ask your AD straight up what your chances are.

I can appreciate that you enjoy the things you’ve bought so far. If you continue to enjoy buying their jewelry or what have you then you have a mutually beneficial set up.

If you ever get tired of this, don’t fault the AD if they don’t deliver on one of those references

Just cannot understand why some think they got to spend many many thousands to buy a so called VIP watch. The Daytona is just a watch nothing more, and a far cheaper option is buying from the hundreds of Daytona for sale at the various grey market dealers and stop playing these so called AD games.

Well this market def isn’t Orlando or Toronto haha but still I’m sure I’m not a top spender. Either way thanks for the advice. Maybe with a good relationship over the years something unique will come my way

How do we know, only your AD can answer that ?
A 25K spend though is not a big client for any AD.
Still your spend isn't the only thing that matters, your relationship and interactions with them is what matters.

We’re not your AD chief. You’re only getting conjecture here. Go ask your AD or don’t.

Decent relationship I’d say. You obviously aren’t a VIP but you have decent spend. It’s in a relatively short period of time (18 months may be on the longer side for SAs that come and go, but most shops have customers that have been going there for many years).

It’s not unreasonable to get a SS sports watch, but it won’t be a SS Daytona and likely not a Pepsi either. If you’re asking about a PM Daytona I think they will come through for you after a little wait.

Ask for what you want, and be a little patient to wait for it. If you buy whatever they offer you (and you feel like you’re settling), then it’s better to wait a little and I think they’ll offer you what you asked for.

If I were you, I would just ask. Go in with your wife, both wearing your Rolexes, and tell him you are ready to buy a Skydweller. Maybe have your wife say she wants to gift it to you for your upcoming Anniversary. Ask how long it will take. Don’t be timid.

Depends on where you are, in many places you're still a very small fish with those purchases...

Why are people so scared to talk directly to an AD??? I just don't get it. Worst case he gets mad and you end up not getting watches you were never going to get anyway.....

I like to say I am a vip with a little v. I have purchased five high demand SS models from my AD since 2017 and nothing else. I have always received what I’ve asked for but there’s usually a wait involved.

Just have a heart to hear with you AD. Tell him/her the watch you want, do you qualify.. etc…. They’ll be straight up with you. These are the questions I asked before I even started my relationship. I wanted to know how much I needed to spend to get my grails.
