Personally... No way. But if the Pateks aren't doing it for you, I say go for a watch you'd wear. There is no enjoyment with watches in the safe/bank. Only on your wrist.

OP has 2 Aquas and a 116500 if I read correct.

Only one 5167 required - sell one and the 116500 would be the logical way for me to raise funds for Platinum Daytona

If u don't like flashy, i think the Platinum Daytona is the way to go. the 5167R is certainly "flashy" though. But I do think the 116506 has kinda flashy, in a certain way... the Ice Blue dial is very eye-catching, but of course, the Platinum finish makes it a little more discreet. If u love nicely weighted watches, I'd say the 116506 is the way to go. but I do concur with many others here, that you should keep the 5711 if u could.

I've just picked up the 116506 as well, and I've let go my 116520 cos i dun see a need for 2 daytonas in my collection.

Good luck and hope u arrive at a right decision for yourself.

I would recommend keeping the 5711 and 5167/A and trading whatever else needs to be traded to get the 116506. The 116500 and 5167R are no brainers as you do not like the RG patek and will have a superior daytona incoming.

I would try to end up with 5711/1A, 5167/a, 116506, 116610LV

Agree with Tom, keep the 5711 and 67A, and move the D500 and 67R as that is just repetition.

Prices of the Platona have moved up, couple of years ago I was contemplating a buy at £35K.

You see this is why TRF is so cool. You guys have given me options I’d never have thought of. Will think this through over the weekend as nothing done hastily is ever done well.

Thanks again!

You're being low-balled on those prices. Should even trade imho.

I’m not a Patek guy, but wouldn’t do that trade. Save and wait for prices to drop.

I think now might be a good time to trade these watches for one I know will get more wrist time. I’ve been looking at the Platinum Daytona for a while now and seen it rise in price while deciding what to do.

I’ve been offered £30,000 for the 5711 and £23,000 for the 5167R.

Would you sell both and use the money to buy a mint 2016 Platinum Daytona for £46,000 and pocket the surplus £7000?

I know it’s ultimately my decision but I’m curious to know what the majority would do.

Thanks in advance.
There is so much sad in this post I am not sure how to answer.

Why buy what you are afraid to wear?

Will you wear the new watch?

Good luck.

30,000 pounds for a 5711.... wow.

I’d flip at your quoted prices and find a good price for the Platona.

In my opinion: Why not make it your daily wearer? It is the ultimate day to day watch, anything platinum certainly isn’t (in my view, in comparison). You said it’s for special occasions, make every day special then!

For me, anyone with ££ can (could have) buy a platinum daytona, someone who had walked into the Rolex boutique at that time and wanted the most expensive watch in stock as a gift to themselves points at it through the glass and says ‘that one’. It happens.

The 5711 is the real deal connoisseurs choice in my view

Obviously I can not afford either piece so I may be speaking out of turn. I LOVE the platinum Daytona, especially the one with the diamond markers:- it is killer. But as a daily I wouldn’t trade a 5711 towards it if i was in that position.

Shifting the rose gold aquanaught towards it though is fair enough

I would either start wear the PP watches listed or they would be sold. I think the market is in a bubble and at some point we will see a correction. That would mean the platinum Daytona would lose value but also both of your PP watches would adjust in the secondary market. If you can get by the psychological impact of parting with two very popular watches and the feedback from others, I would take my profits and buy the watch I want. The Platinum Daytona is way cool and I would do it.

Ultimately your choice, and ask yourself this, if you think you will have regrets then don't do it, if not go for it

F Yes! I'd do it, simply because I don't care for the 5711. Minority opinion yes I know.
