Two very difference watches. You don’t seem like a world timer kind of guy based on your signature.
Personally, i don’t like the world timer at all. Too busy, not big on dress watch leather bands. Patek makes beautiful watches, the casebacks are amazing. But this wouldn’t be on the top of my list for Patek. |

This is one of my favorite watches (albeit white gold version). I’d do that trade without even possibly thinking twice.

Heck yes I would. A CHNR is $18K USD used, and then adding $15,5 still gets you ahead based on used 5230R prices.

It’s a fair trade if you want a dressier, leather strap PP in your collection. If you want this more than the gmt...money and value aside....get what makes you happy

I voted no, only because I do not like the aesthetic of this watch, busy unreadable dial, no seconds hands, not for me. However if it was a 5396R I would be all over it. So long story short, if you love it, absolutely do it!

I really like the 5230r and have watched prices hover around $35k for a while. Considering that most dealers will give you around $13-15k for the CHNR, I'd say you're getting a good deal with only $15.5k on top.

Yeah to be a dealer deal and not just a private seller, I honestly can’t believe he’s getting the better end of the stick by this much. Kind of nutty, they must have gotten the Patek for peanuts or something

Had the WT, both the 5110rg and the matching dealer wall clock.... it's a big no from me. Mmmmmmaybe for CHNR plus $10k, yet no more than that. jmho

Don't do it. You'll regret it. Unless your Rootbeer doesn't get a lot of wrist time.
By the way... this poll looks like it's tied! nothing decided yet. |

I wouldn’t. The Patek is almost unreadable. Too much clutter all over the dial and small hands.
The GMT is the better watch of the two. |

The deal is certainly fair on the money front (anyone who suggests the money is wrong is letting their taste dictate the answer), only you know which you would prefer, no one else can answer that.

I'd keep the Rolex unless you really love the PP - rolex will definitely keep its value in case that is important to you

The Patek is nice looking but not for me. I think many people are voting for the Patek because they think it's a good deal financially, But as far as a good looking watch compared to TT no way its not even close. TT GMT MASTER FTW

Well the math makes sense - if you want the watch it sounds like a deal.
I'm a fan of the piece - great function and love a micro rotor!

I don't like the dark guilloche pattern on the 5230 WT. Hence my answer is no regardless of whether the trade makes sense financially or not.
Much prefer any 5110 WT (or the 5231 so an AD will). |

Ditto.
Another problem is the 5230R is out of warranty and looks to be a slow mover versus the fast-moving CHNR which is ~$19,500 and under warranty. We all know PP versus Rolex service time difference and costs. So yeah, with decades of experience here i'll stand by my $10k max for the PP 5230R WT trade... unless you're into paying top-level full retail for a slower-moving used out-of-warranty PP watch. Maybe some of the fanboys here will pitch in a few bucks if they feel this is a good deal BTW: Haven't looked too closely, did PP fix the old timezone problems / errors on the 5230R dial?

OP: I'd go for the 5110 as feel they got the dial right, and easy to read, the first time out. For those curious, PP 5110rg sold at $12.5 new as got one when they were first released. Just make sure it's been recently serviced, or allot four months and $$ off asking price to get her serviced.
