Owners of 403.025 Datograph - subdials different?

I love Lange's rose gold, white dials, and the Datograph. Should be a no-brainer to buy the 403.025, the white-dialed RG Datograph. However, many pictures make the subdials look a darker shade than the actual dial base. See below:

Attachment 1177828

This doesn’t appear to be the case on later models, like the Dato Perp.

Does this bother you? The contrast between the dial / subdial looks annoying to me! But can’t tell how it would be on the wrist. Is it just certain angles? Camera trick?

I used to have that watch

I believe it depends on the angle you are looking at. Some are the same, move it and it shines differently. My dato perp has the same color subdials as dial

Thinking about it. Prices seem to have jumped $10k recently tho. For a white metal chrono, I’m eyeing the 5170p too.

I’m sure you watched the WatchBox video on the 403 Dato. That is what sold me; but I really got caught up in the movement, which I think is a lot nicer than the Patek Chrono movement.

I was in the same boat when looking at the Zeitwerk, Dato, or a Patek chrono. Ended up deciding on Lange because the finish work is better IMO.

Didn't realize datos have gone up $10k. What ref #?

I just checked WatchPatrol and Takuya has one for $41,200. He's a very reputable seller.

Reached out to him, but it looks like it's sold:

https://www.takuyawatches.com/product-category/lange/

That was a hell of a deal. I'll keep my eye out on this seller.

Any other sellers you'd recommend?

I use WatchPatrol/WatchRecon and buy private in most cases

For a complicated watch like the Datograph, I would only buy used if it's been serviced recently as a service is very expensive.

I have had good experiences with Burdeen's/Chicago Lange Boutique (where I got my Zeitwerk), WatchBox, and a lot of private deals. Watchbox can be relatively flexible sometimes, but I've found it depends quite a bit on when you call them and what you're buying. I got a very solid deal from them on a Royal Oak that I was able to trade out for a slight profit after I got bored of it in a few months.
