Great thread. I just realized those mechanics come highly recommended.

Yeah, it appears your results were the same as mine. Not bad results but not comparable to the #defendergirls page. Gonna have to work on that I guess.

I have owned 3 Series IIas over the past 25 years. Good trucks, easy to fix, quirky.

Defenders ok too. Until discontinued.

New Defender? Nah. No connection to the history and durability of the marque. They are trash, and full of hipster, millennial cool.
Sorry to sound harsh, but I prefer something that is durable and fixable in the field if needed.

Thanks. The comments under the video were illuminating.

I understand the history of Range Rover and the Defender. However, unlike Rolex where the premium you pay is rewarded in reliability and robustness (In a family that has owned 10+ rolexes, only 2 were serviced prior to 25 years). I cant justify spending money on a car that is notable for poor reliability. Whats the appeal beyond the ornament on the hood that says range rover and the status symbol aspect? The purpose of a vehicle is to run, and if it cant do that reliably, what do you have?

I would buy an NAS Defender 90 and suffer with its ride quality. Or for something modern I would look at the Bronco. I’m not big on new LR products as they had infotainment issues.

I don't know why but all of a sudden I'm daydreaming about getting a Jeep Wrangler. Hmmm.

I was up most of the night scouring the internet from one end to the other and I could find NO mention of Nissan Xterra and chicks/babes/women/ or ladies.

Nada. Nothing.

All I was able to find was lonely guys, 4 guys in a ditch, Budweiser, fishing, Coors and the dating site farmers only dot com.

I'm so sorry.

That’s quite possibly the funniest comment I’ve ever read on a TRF thread!! Thanks, I needed it today!!

I would never buy anything Land Rover unless it's under warranty and the dealer will pick it up and drop off a loaner when it breaks down. We've had a Range and a Sport and will never again.

I really don't think of the Defender as a chick magnet at all. I kinda think of it as a woman's car but that's likely because the only people I've known who had one were women. Why not just get a CJ7? They are still out there and just as cool, if not cooler, than they were back then. I've got a single buddy with a badass Renegade and he gets lots of trim.

What???????

I’ve started on your obituary now after seeing that beast.

Blansky had a good life on TRF he relished quality. His modesty and charm were never matched yet one day he got an idea about Jeeps and modified his. Thus creating more attractiveness and setting up a chain of events ending with him suffocating happily one California evening watching the sunset on a dune piled in...... I now have writers block and will let you finish the rest. I’m penciling in Charlie Sheen to narrate it.

Thanks for starting it for me......I THINK.

and if I can’t have Martin Sheen narrate, forget it. I ain’t dyin’.

On my previous picture I had to photoshop out all the mechanics. The twins are both married. And the redhead didn’t want her dad seeing her.

Such is the lot in life of a Jeep owner.

These don’t appear to be as bashful. Currently requesting contact info and ASE credentials.
This is a new method for what I believe is checking the linkage for movement. (Note- Jeep)

A little off topic but...when I bought my Porsche 911, I thought all the girls would check it out. Not one has ever said anything but the 70 year old men stop and stare!

I daily drive a few defenders a week, so does my wife. Around town and across the country if needed. I know my trucks, so for me, it’s as reliable as anything eles that I maintain. No issues here..

I considered the new 202x Defender as a contender to replace my 4Runner in a year or two because it looks like such a cool vehicle with amazing features, although pound for pound with trucks like the TRD Pro, Wrangler Rubicon or even the Land Cruiser 200, it's lacking a bit in the offload department.

I like the six cylinder but my desire for it has cooled significantly by reviews showing several ridiculous problems for a new vehicle but worst is the lack of confidence the power plant inspires.
It is a vehicle that has a super charger, a turbo annnnnd a mild hybrid electric system...that is way too many techy high precision systems in one engine compartment from a manufacturer that doesn't exactly have a great reputation for reliability.

At this point I regrettably took it off my list until at least a few years go by to see how all these systems behave after abuse, I want turn key functionality and dependability and right now my number one contender is the LC Heritage Edition should the stars align after this miserable year.

Rumor has it that there is a V8 defender in the works and has been spotted testing on the 'ring. Sounds amazing, but there are two concerns, 1- will it even come to N America and 2- will it be a normal Defender with a V8 or a performance version not befitting off road use. If the latter that would be a shame for the Defender heritage and also a no-go because I prefer the family hauler off road aspects of this type of vehicle. If I want to attack an Apex in an SUV there's nothing better than an X5M....which is not what I want though.

As for old Defenders, freaking epic...but definitely not a vehicle I consider a daily. Drives like crap on the road, drives like a champ on dirt, daily life and maintenance sucks, but while you're doing all that miserable driving and spending lots on repairs, you will look damn cool doing it. It's an enthusiast vehicle that works best as a 2nd or 3rd vehicle for recreation similar to owning a jet ski or dirt bike. Just my two cents based on my usage and needs.

Wow, using a ~24 year old off-road truck as daily is pretty wild. How many miles are you going a day?
