Do discontinued Panerai go up in value?

Generally do they go up in value? I have a 425, that’s my daily, just love the thing, love the P3000 Hand wound movement, the sterility of the dial, wears a lot better than you’d imagine so it’s not going anywhere but as it’s recently been discontinued do you think I’ll get appreciation in value over the next few years?

Doubtful
It will likely hold but i doubt it'll appreciate

Happy to be corrected, but there are some many variations of Panerai out there that the market is pretty diluted

Unless it was a super limited piece and brought something unusual to the table, I would expect to see a decent ROI on most Panerais

I am far from an expert on Panerai, but I do not think it will appreciate in value.

My 232 and 176 basically hold their value, no appreciation except for inflation.

Haven't seen a Panerai appreciate in value. Almost always lost even buying from the Great market at 50% off MSRP

My Pam 104 has gone up about $800 from what I paid years ago. It at least follows the “wear for free” goal that was the Rolex sales pitch. My Pam 661 Carbotech went up from what I paid as well but that is a much more limited produced model. All this is meaningless as this is a lifestyle to enjoy. I would never ever sell either.

Panerai is a brand you wear to enjoy as all watches should be. Value is in your enjoyment mostly.

Mine aren’t for sale. Their current value isn’t relevant to my enjoyment of them.

I wouldn't think PAM as "appreciate" right now.

But good for me cause the ticket price for entry is not going higher.

Don't new brand new at retail, you will be fine.

My 127, 111 and Bronzo have appreciated markedly. My 687 didn’t fair as well.

The key with Panerai these days is to buy used. It didn’t used to be that way mind.

Who cares. You either like the watch or you don’t. Or you can continue the Rolex value nonsensical talk in the Panerai section. Sadly it is creeping into all the watch topic forums on this site. Either way, I have grown so tired of this forum and the endless drivel about this topic. Too bad the forum police don’t enforce the rules about value discussion, etc, or maybe that rule has disappeared. Was much better before it all started and has been allowed to continue.

Totally agree, although Panerai guys tend to care less and actually wear watches they like

Prices seem to hold steady if you buy pre owned. Lot’s of great Panerai in the $4-6k range pre owned.

As a brand very few watches appreciate in value. If Panerai were one, you'd already know it and wouldn't be asking. The fact that you are provides your answer.

if you care mostly value, then panerai might not be the brand that you wanna focus; however, i know this is the brand that i get to enjoy and make their watches look unique with different kinds of straps :)

I'm not banking on my P01535 going up in value, but it being discontinued does make it more special to me. At the time, I believe I had bought the 2nd to last one available in the US -- just happened to have one in stock at Panerai boutique in NYC that day.

The comment is 100% real, accurate.
It is a great brand and the designs are very nice but they are never appreciated. Used ones never go up in price and neither do new ones.

Couple of people seem to have got their knickers in a twist over a very simple question… It was a general comment as to discontinued models and peoples experiences, that said. Do agree also, for what most Panerai cost I’m not sure anyone’s too fussed on resale value, and yes I do fully agree the whole Rolex holds their value, they go up constantly, you can wear it for free basically is very boring now. I know of 19 year olds that live in their parents back bedroom wearing heavily financed Rolex for this exact reason, so much so that’s what turned me away from the brand and onto new things, they became the Burberry hat of watches. They’re all going to feel it when the Rolex bubble inevitably bursts.
