5227 vs 5226 Pricing?

Curious on everyones thoughts between these 2 watches?

They are currently both priced the same at 39,030 USD. The movements are different "324S C" vs "26-330S C" and also their styling. Both are self-winding.

If you can pick one between the two? Which one and why? Personally, I'm leaning towards the 5227 since it's quintessential Patek. Not to mention the "Officers Caseback"

I also found it odd they are priced identical.
The 5227 has the hinge back and the 5226 has those pyramids and an odd case design as well.
I like the 5227 better,especially the black dial 5227G.
But if I was younger and more stylish I could see the appeal of the 5226.

Depends on your personal style, but personally I would go 5227. Classic, beautiful, timeless.

The 5227 and 5226 couldn't be more different so it boils down to personal preference. I prefer the 5227R due to its aesthetics. However, these 2 references can complement each other too in a watch collection as the 5226 is more contemporary and casual looking.

I like them but I’d probably go with a jlc over the 5227. Save about 30k for a very similar watch. 5226 would get my vote for the interesting case, more casual dial and the hobnail is cool.

They are priced the same since they are very similar mechanically, both PM but with different styling. The 324 and 26-330 movements are very similar, one is the development of the other with added hacking. I like both but for very different reasons.

26-330 has the cool LIGA-etched seconds wheel that maintains constant contact with the teeth of the seconds hand, eliminating any play b/w the seconds wheel and hand

I love both and I like their cases as much.

The 5227's with the "invisible" officer's caseback and beautiful curves, especially around the lugs' work.

And the 5226 with the way lugs are attached, visually, to the case, as well as the hobnail pattern. They managed to make something really cool and so much different than other pieces you might find in that "simple" complications field.

In the end, it's just a question of style to choose from, for me. Do you want a dressier, timeless and very elegant watch or do you prefer a still elegant but much more casual model?

I've been loving the 5227R since I handled it for the first time around 2013 but if I had to choose, I don't know which one I would pick today.

The hunter case back on the 5227 is a work of art. The size of this Calatrava makes it a perfect wearer for any non-violent occasion. It oozes class.

I have the WG white dial 5227. It’s a great watch. I love the 5226 and don’t know what I would do if offered one today. Tough call.

The 5227 scalloped lugs and the hunter case back is pretty darn nice. True classic patek. Flys under radar. Doesn’t scream “look at me”. I think it can work well in both casual or dressy occasion

I will also add, between 5227 or 6119 I may lean more toward 5227 given how versatile it is

i like the 5227 but the proportions seem a little off to me, i prefer a chunkier bezel. i like the 5226 but wish it had a bit more WR and made it more of a sporty field watch. already have a habring erwin pilot that looks just like it on order

Pricing of the 5226 feels aggressive. 5226 is fairly comparable to the 5296, and the 5227 was ~30% more expensive than the 5296 due to the officer's caseback. I'd expect 5226 pricing to fall somewhere in between...

Worth noting that Patek hasn't changed any prices when they've switched existing references from the 324 SC to the 26-330 SC movement (e.g. the 5711 back in 2019). I doubt the aggressive 5226 pricing is related to the 26-330 SC.

Curious as to why you like 324 in some regards more than the newer updated movement.

Just acquired the 5227R. I love it.

Few reasons why the 5227 was the number 1 dress watch for me,

As a younger guy, I like my watches a bit bigger. Preferably around 38-42mm.
The hunter's case adds a bit more thickness to the watch -- making the 39mm look like a 40mm.
Plus, it's beautiful to look at off the wrist.
5227 is so simple, but the lacquered dial has its presence on the wrist.

For 5226, I haven't seen it personally so I can't really give you an opinion.
Heard great things about it.
The visuals look more casual.

I think you are comparing apples to oranges.
Whatever you choose, I hope you are satisfied in the end
