Now your tax is calculated based on where you live if you have it shipped.
Ugh. That sucks.

I hope if I can get an allocation, I can pay via credit card to get points. It would be first purchase.

Why? They're saving you the trouble of calculating and paying the use tax yourself.

Back in 2017 when I bought my Oyster Perpetual from a Rolex AD, I shipped to another state that didn't have the same Rolex AD and saved on paying any tax.

Same with a bunch of other watches I bought in 2018 (IWC and Cartier), all from ADs.

Per cltballer, that's no longer the case and taxes have to paid regardless of where you ship to.

I wonder if they ship out of state where there are no boutiques, would you save on sales tax from that boutique state to non-boutique state? E.g, California boutique to Washington state.
It was shipped to me in MA.

Oh man, that hurts. Why didn't you take it with you at AP NYC if you paid NYC tax, instead of having it shipped?

Did you pay via credit card or wire?

Unless you lived in Alaska, Oregon, New Hampshire, Delaware or Montana, "saved" may not quite be the right word here.

What word would you use then if I didn't have to pay taxes on the watches (Rolex, IWC and Cartier) back in 2017 and 2018?

His point is that even if the merchant didn’t collect sales tax at the time of transaction, per the law, you have an obligation to report an untaxed out of state purchase and pay the appropriate sales tax in your jurisdiction.

The five states referenced have no sales tax.

I did not buy it in person. The watch was shipped to me at home when I got "the call"
