Current Volcanic Activity

Do we have any vulcanologists or geologists, professional or otherwise, on board?

I thought today that it seems we have a lot of volcanoes erupting all around the world, so I decided to look it up.

I was aware of maybe four, but I counted 27 currently erupting on this chart.

I'm not one to obsess about things apocalyptic or anything, but is this usual?

I have zero knowledge about this topic, but thanks for pointing this out. That’s eerie.

Am not an expert, though yes it seems the volcanic activity is up. You do know we're just between Ice Ages on planet Earth, so enjoy the 'global warming' while it lasts.

Might be due to easier access to info. Some years ago shark attacks were all the range and the scare ironically surfaced when shark attacks were at an all time low.

Do you think this imminent apocalypse will affect pricing and availability of the BatGirl or the Cookie Monster?

I suspect that the world will one day shake us humans off like a dog shakes off fleas.

I fell into a burning Ring Of Fire.

Sixty percent of all active volcanoes occur at the boundaries between tectonic plates. Most volcanoes are found along a belt, called the “Ring of Fire” that encircles the Pacific Ocean.

I've hiked up the dormant sister island of Volcano also within the Aeolian Island chain when I was younger, Stromboli is off limits and some quite honestly very steep. Of course it's nearest neighbor is always going off (Mt. Etna).

Pretty awesome video footage from the Big Island of Hawaii I must say.

The majority of global warming is from one of the hottest celestial bodies in the universe: my muse.

My dad used to say back in the 70’s, if things keep up and it gets bothered enough, the earth will simply shake people off of it. More and more, seems like he may have been right.

Stromboli is quite a popular tourist destination, there are daily boat trips from Sicily and the mainland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPNu...index=17&t=18s

I was just watching the 1950 Ingrid Bergman movie of the same name last week, which was filmed on the island. There's a good quality copy available on YouTube.

Yup, if it wasn't for them there wouldn't have been life on this rock as they created the athmosphere and helped keep the heat under it.

(humor) Shhhhh, after 'leaders' take many private planes to meeting after meeting, they still can't find a way to Carbon Tax volcanos.
