Rolex has a cyclops on the crystal because Rolex is a watch brand made for old men.

Leather straps can get wet (use Leatherique people, sheeeeesh!!!)

The Rolex Jubilee bracelet is comfier than the Oyster.

Chewbacca is a Lizard people.

The real Submariner has no date, with date is daft.

The Apple watch is not a watch at all just a computer on the wrist that needs replacing every 2 years.

1. Patek Nautilus and Aquanaut line is hideous. The only thing uglier is anything from AP.

2. I really like the new deep sea challenge

The REAL James Bond wore a Rolex, the posers wear Omega and drive Volvos.

thats what I like about this hobby. For me, the RO is possibly my favourite watch ever made. On the other side, why would anyone want a watch like the deep sea challenge 😂 it’s like driving an F1 car to work.

A watch that is scratched doesn't have character, it's just a scratched watch.

1. There are better ways to store value than a safe full of unworn Rolexes
2. Spending money on a pile of watches you never actually wanted so you can have a chance to buy the one you’re after is no more logical than buying same day, at potentially above MSRP, from a trusted seller
3. Speedmaster > Daytona
4. It is a tool to be used and enjoyed, no different than a car or a musical instrument; by using it you unlock the magic, not by hoarding it
5. Rolex is better at marketing than watchmaking

Rolex baggage isn’t worth the hassle. Same for AP at this point and the entire nautilus line.

I think buying a PM watch, at PM prices, that comes on a rubber strap is silly.

Here's mine -

1. The 11 series Sub is better than the 12 series.
2. Following on from 1, the Supercase is the best!
3. Following on from 1 and 2, the 31xx series movements are way better than the 32xx series.

This ^ 100%. It's not character, it's not telling a story, it's just damage.

Oh heck yes!

Panerai is getting strangely priced considering the low watchmaker hours and lack of movement decoration. Thankfully the warranty is long so that helps.

Different strokes. My mark xviii feels very high quality for $5K compared to the competition IMO. Runs reliably, it’s a thin movement, and they do finish and regulate it rather than just drop it into the case.

Your not popular opinions.

1. No, your Sub/AP diver/Panerai does not “dress up” and work for any occasion.

2. You don’t wear the same clothes to a board meeting and the beach, so comments about your “active lifestyle” and needing a single watch to wear everywhere for every activity is a bit daft. Especially since you own an entire collection of 5 or 8 or 12 sport watches. It would be easy to swap some out and change watches when you change clothes.

3. A “collection” of Rolex professional series watches is boring. The addition of a hand and a different bezel color is like buying an entire wardrobe of RL polo shirts and saying you’re ready for every occasion. 11 black dials with round lume plots and Mercedes hands is not variety.

4. Every non-Panerai on leather is not a dress watch. Most are just watches, appropriate for most activities except swimming and black tie.

5. Yellow gold > rose gold. Matches more wedding rings, too.

1. AP is a one watch brand while Patek's vast lineup lacks coherence and appears ever more arbitrary.
2. IWC lost the plot in the early 2000s. For good.
3. Until recently AP had one simple watch worth owning, the 15202. Now they have none.
4. The IWC Porsche Design Ocean 2000 diver is more attractive than the Rolex divers of the time.
5. About 4 out of 5 new Patek launches represent merely a change in case metal or dial color.
6. The IWC pyramid bracelet (Mark XV, 3706/11/13) is the most comfortable ever made and its quality was miles ahead of Rolex bracelets at the time.

Oysterflex bugs me because it’s dark grey rather than black and doesn’t match the black on the watch! Never ever heard anyone agree with this lol

1. This "shortage" is artificially created.
2. Men can wear 34mm.
3. Today, Omega is better than Rolex.

Many of these other unpopular opinions I agree with.

Wife and i had matching Aquas years ago (before the hype). Neither timepieces are here now. For $17k mens and $12k for hers it was fair market and felt quality matched the asking price. At today's pricing and with what's available now versus many years ago... hard pass.

Only dive watches should have bronze cases.

Rolex should replace VC in Holy Trinity

Tudor Bracelets are poorly finished (too sharp)

The 36mm EXPI is too small and should not have been reissued at that size

Rolex still has too many AD's

Bronze imo shouldn’t be used for any case. Steel is more practical and rose gold looks better. Not to mention the annoying patina having to care for it.

Rolex movements are not high quality, not enough hand made parts to the watch and no true complications, definitely for me not holy trinity worthy.

I have only owned black bays, but find the bracelet absolutely spot on.

36mm is still a good size imo, esp for a simple watch like the exp1

Kind of agree, problem is that will make them even more exclusive and prices even higher. AP did this right, increased exclusivity and prices. Does Rolex need that right now?

The Deep Sea Challenge is ridicolous and clownish.
People buying watchs at or above MSRP are wasting their money (just to be polite, I could have really been much harsher).
The Nautilus is just butt ugly regardless of the dial color.
Watches with cathedral hands should be banned. Always.
The Explorer 36mm is a joke, the 39mm with long hands is MUCH better.
