Question about Fortis Watch

I am closed to buying a Fortis B42 Flieger Chronograph watch

Has anyone got good / bad experience with the brand ???

Thanks

Linh

I've had a few of 'em - good value tool watches, some cool designs. Reasonable resale (YMMV) but push hard for a discount if buying new.

B-42 models are the ones to go for

Cheers

I had a Fortis once. Nice watch mechanically but the leather strap fell apart. Sold the head, deployment buckle and box on ebay. First and last.

I had a B-42 that I later sold to help finance my GMTII. I always felt that Fortis is under rated and less well known than it should be. Personally, I thought the B42 Marinemaster was a great watch and would recommend it to anyone.

The metal bracelets are nice (double screws per link) but the OEM leather straps are poor imho. 'Standard practice' is to replace with a nice Toshi strap

thanks

Not sure if I'd buy a brand new B42 Flieger Chrono for $1300 (AUD) or save up some more for a second hand 16610

If you go for the Fortis, aim for 30% off MRSP

Perhaps post some pics, and the ref, of the exact model you have in mind?

Cheers

This is the last Fortis I had (since sold to a friend)
B-42 Flieger day-date, on a Toshi strap...

I've been offered to buy one like this BNIB for $1000 AUD about $920USD

http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...rt=0&rid=94050

or this limited edition for $1250 AUD

Prices seem reasonable. Antiquorum here in Melb have a used (40mm) Flieger Chrono http://www.watchtime.com.au/fortis.htm
However they appear to be asking a high price.

Watches of Switzerland are now the Fortis AD in Melb, so might be worth visiting them. Tino there is a great guy and a very enthusiastic WIS.

(Franco jewellers also sell Fortis but I know nothing about them)

Alternatively, there is an online seller called 'cnmark' (MBwatches@gmail.com) who specialises in Fortis - he advertises a lot on watchnet.
http://forums.watchnet.com/index.php...rm_id=85&rid=0
and search for Fortis

Cheers

I have one. Classic pilots' watch with clean lines. I stripped the winding pinion threads so it doesn't seal, probably my fault, but difficult to get serviced. MSRP was $1000 and I got it for $630.
