1974 Rolex 6426 Presision winding query
Hello
I've just acquired a 1974 6426 Presision, and can't seem to find any information on how often, and how many turns it needs to we wound. Don't want to over-wind it. Thanks |

It’s really very simple, just wind it until you feel it stop. It will be very obvious and so long as you don’t try to force it beyond that stop all will be good.

You won’t overwind it. Once it’s full, it doesn’t keep winding, you’d snap the stem if you kept going

I had one back in the day, wind it until it stops every morning.

Nice watch - so comfortable to wear, I wore one for about 15 years every day. As other people have said, just wind it until you feel the resistance. I used to wind mine every morning when I got up, it just became part of my morning routine.

Thanks everyone. Have just inherited it from my Dad, who sadly died, so really didn't want to break it. Any maintenance information is surprisingly hard to find. I've since found out it's a 1968 watch!

If its keeping great time then no need to worry about maintenance until it starts to gain or lose time. In the meantime, wear it in good health and im sorry to hear about your dad. You have a treasure there to remind you of your dad for a lifetime!

Typically a manual wind watch is wound every morning before you put it on for the day. Wind it until it stops - no need to be aggressive.

After a while you will also learn how many turns it takes to be fully wound each morning - it is quite a therapeutic process!! Enjoy the watch and hope it brings you many happy memories of your father.

Hi I remember it will take around 17-18 full turns to wind it fully for the 121x movement. I own few of them and the dial design is beautiful especially the older one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm very, very sorry for your loss. I think that it's wonderful that you would like to continue to use and wear this piece and think of your father every time you look down at your wrist. Wear it in good health!
