Opinions on Rolex Submariner Serti Dial?

Hi All,

I'm new to the Forum and new to Rolexes in general.
A few months back, I've decided to buy a watch as a personal treat for the last years of hard work. Nevertheless, I'm more of a vintage person so was not thinking of buying a completely new watch.
After researching for some (very long) time, I've stumbled in a model that I really like and that seems to not be too overvalued: the Rolex Submariner Serti Dial.

I've found a piece from the late 80s, with all papers and case, but, being very new to this world, I'd like to have opinion as to its condition. It's worth noting I live in the UK, and these watches seem particularly rare over here.
Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

If you mean the one near "superlative" in the first picture then that's just the photo, it's not actually on the watch!

No, it's like the cyclops has been glued on with super-glue.

Apparently is just the shadow, have a better picture and you can see that it’s the shadow of the cyclops giving it that effect! Apart from that do you see any big red flags? What do you think of the watch overall?

I am not familiar with this model so I can’t be helpful there, but it does look like something is unusual around the cyclops, almost like the crystal is frosted in a circle around it? Perhaps this is usual for the model, and I have just not noticed it before, but I do not believe this is just a shadow.

Here’s another angle. Anything that leads you to believe there’s something strange?

Who cares what others think. You bought it for a reason, because you like it. That’s all that matters. If it brings you joy to look at your wrist then you’ve done a good job buying it.

While I totally agree re. what others think, I'm guessing he's asking if anyone sees any red flags or has concerns w the authenticity or condition of it.

I agree with not caring what others think
However
I don’t agree with buying things based off like.
I on a few occasions have bought based off like without doing my homework and have recently come to find out some items were not authentic.
Not the best logic.
Although I know some offers don’t present time.

Hope it all turns out well for the OP. Not my favorite dial, but it is still cool and one I don’t see much in the while.

Looks good from that angle, just seemed to weird from the side like it was before. Even though I wouldn't own a Serti dial, I can appreciate the look. Well done!

I’m not a fan of TT or diamonds but after seeing this I have changed my mind.

Would happily own one of these. Very nice.

Cyclops looks slightly crooked in that shot. I like Serti dials but on someone else's wrist.

I personally love the Champagne Serti dial. It's unique, different, and I plan to purchase it one day soon. Like most say, if you like it and are going to wear it vs leave it in a box, enjoy your life and buy what you prefer. Screw others' opinions.
