Upside Down
I've noticed that on all Roman numeral dials and most Arabic numeral dials as you go around the dial clockwise from 12 the numbers actually become inverted and are upside down. Is there any particular reason for this? Is it just for aesthetical purposes? Do other watchmakers do this? I'm just curious.

Yes, it's for aesthetic reasons and a tradition in watchmaking. Just like using "IIII" instead of "IV". Click here to read more about dial design.
