This is definitely not a women's Presidential. From your picture, it looks like a men's 1803. BUT the endlink doesn't right. Please provide us with close-up pictures of the dial and the case please. Let's hope only the end link is after market and not anything else. |

It is the 36 mm Model. The end Links are marked 045 The bracelet is marked 8385 and has the number 4 on it. It further says 18 k and has 750 stamped on it.

The end link just doesn't look right. On the 1803 slow set or 18038 single quick set, the end link does not extend all the way ... |

Not to mention the offset hour/minute hands, misaligned day wheel and underpowered cyclops, short seconds hand, etc.

Good pick up on the second hand. As for the cyclops, hard to tell, because of the angle of the pic. Hour and minute hands do need to be reset. I don’t know how the day wheel changes. I will check everything thoroughly, after it arrives. It is mechanical, so probably not a fake, especially if from the 60’s. I have seen fake Day/Dates. They have quartz movements. If it is legit, I will have it serviced, new hands, etc.

The seconds hand being short is a dead giveaway. The watch had to been opened because of the hands and is very likely not original. The misaligned hands and the not centered date wheel indicate the watch has been damaged or serviced poorly. As for your statement, it is mechanical and so probably not a fake is not absolute and is false. Just because the hands sweep and it is a "not a quartz movement", it doesnt mean there is a Rolex engine in the watch. Nevertheless, your story was interesting. Good luck. |

OOooooh. I am seeing something at the top of the dial that is a huge, major red flag. (We are not allowed to discuss "major points" so that is all I am permitted to say, other than sending you a private PM.)
Sorry about this watch.

Hi Kat, thank you for sharing your story and sorry for the loss of your husband. I'm afraid the watch is not a genuine Rolex. As others have said, quite a few red flag.

Thanks for sharing the discovered day-date.
Regardless of its pedigree, the watch reappearing makes a lovely day more special for you and your daughter methinks. I know the fog you meant. In my case it was a Platona that later grew wings in the hands of a drug addict’s break-in. So whatever it turns out to be, it marked a turning point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

OP as said above don’t think the watch is a genuine DayDate. Here for comparisson is a picture of my 18239 (with its original dial and hands):

Interesting story. Hopefully if it turns out to not be genuine you never remember what you paid for it if you thought it was real at the time.
Cool to see you are still into watches! I had to smile when you said your new significant other didn't understand your obsession. You definitely belong here! Best of Luck!
