Military Strap Experiences?

Hi guys.

Anyone own a Military Strap that you wear regularly on your Breitling? I like the look, but they seem so stiff. Just curious if they break in well, hold up, etc. Thanks!

I have an ammo strap made from a vintage ammo strap for my panerai. It is stiff but I like it because it adds character to the watch. On my breitling navitimer I experimented with some straps and nato but not yet the ammo strap because its expensive. Currently its on a breitling canvas strap.

Thanks but I meant the actual Breitling Military straps that they offer.

Hey, there lovely straps and made really well but I have always found they can get a bit uncomfortable with the material.

I had one on a Super Avenger for a bit. I found that it looked rather 'worn' more quickly than a calf or croc strap option. It also didn't break in as nicely as the other options mentioned. In the end I got rid of it and replaced it with a black calf strap.

I've got one on my Transocean chrono and love it. The underside has a rubberized finish and I don't worry about getting sweat on it, or getting it wet. I also find it comfortable on the wrist. Good for a sports watch, IMO.

I have one on my SOII 44. IMO it looks better than the rubber strap that came with the watch. I find it very comfortable and it's built tough.

I have several NATO straps for my Navitimer. The key to making them comfortable is to run them back and forth over the edge of a stone kitchen counter a bunch of times to make them more flexible and then take some sandpaper to the inside of the strap to make it nice and soft against your skin. Enjoy!

He said he was referring to the "Breitling Military straps"

Yeah, thanks though. Was curious about specifically the Breitling brand of military straps before buying one.

Yes, I noted that. However, a piece of canvas is a piece of canvas, even if it happens to have been marketed as Breitling item, and so if the Breitling military strap is uncomfortable because it is stiff and rough on the skin, then you can use the techniques that I described to make it more comfortable. Just trying to help.

Then I would buy an aftermarket canvas strap, of which there are many, that looks just like the Breitling one.

The problem with most aftermarket canvas straps is they are actually tweed. Which does not wear well. And they are usually lined with leather. I like a really nice full canvas strap. They do not mind getting wet either.

I have the olive drab and anthracite canvas straps.

Both are leather lined and not fully canvas.

I do not advise wearing this strap of your Breitling is expected to get wet.
