5119J problem

the sapphire glass bottom cover just came off from my wife's calatrava 5119J. also, the watch (5 months old) has had issues recently, like stopping in the middle of the night (it gets wound always first thing in the morning). anyone here has experienced this or similar to this before?

Is this a new watch purchased from an AD?

Get it repaired/serviced under warranty, a glass caseback coming loose and suddenly stopping is unacceptable.

As Bas (SearChart) said above - unacceptable.

It needs to go back for inspection/repair immediately.

Isn't the case back screwed on? I believe it should have six retaining screws, are they missing?

There were 2 versions of the 5119, one with screws and one pressure sealed. I believe the current version is only pressure sealed.

Edit: just looked on the Patek website and the current version appears to have 6 small screws securing the caseback. It does seem odd in that situation for the caseback to come off so easily. Perhaps the OP was sold an older version?

I would ask for a new watch. That is unacceptable for any brand let alone PP.

I️ agree. I would ask for a replacement. I’ve had two instances with two separate Pateks that resulted in getting brand new replacements from the AD. Disappointing for sure, but the resolution of each was reassuring.

I will add that this is one of the reasons why I️ buy new watches from an AD.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Good luck with that unless the AD takes the hit. Otherwise, I believe PP will proceed under the terms of the warranty.

^^^Agree with this.

OP's had the watch for almost half a year. Doubt any AD would do an exchange at this point but good news is that Patek will fix it under warranty.

The cal 215 is a rather simple and reliable movement, so hopefully it should be a quick fix.

Good point. My two examples of receiving replacement watches were issues discovered in the first 2 weeks, so probably not fair to assign these expectations to the OP.
