I agree. If I can find a 5070 around my budget I would pull the trigger.

I do love the 5146 in white gold. Beautiful watch. Haven't came across any in the 20's though. They all seem to be low to mid 30's

I love the 5205 in black dial with rose gold.

I was thinking of adding the JLC moon at some point. Would you recommend?

I love my master ultra thin moon. JLC, I feel, is very underappreciated. It is a classic looking watch that will stand the test of time. wonderful dressed up on the black strap, or I have a brown suede hodinkee strap I wear with it that makes it look much more casual. A moonphase with JLC in house movement for around $7500 BNIB.... can't beat it.

Yes I saw that 5205R on davids site and seriously contemplated it, I'm just not much of a yellow or rose gold guy.

Yeah the JLC and Cartier work very well as my dress watches, they just aren't Patek!

I haven't tried on the 5164 before. I really do like the look of the 5170G-010 with the black dial. I need to try them all on. I'm in Texas.

If you are in Austin you can see my 5164. It is a great watch.

Thanks for JLC review. I'd like to add something dressier in the future, and a Patek/Lange seems like too big of an investment, when I might not regularly wear it. The MUT Moon seems to hit the sweet spot.

Regarding the 5202, I think RG is best variant, and I'm not a fan of it in WG. I'll echo the 5146 and 5396 as fantastic looking ACs as well. Best of luck!

You are most certainly missing a Patek.. Can you post a better pic of that luminor? I want to see the strap if you don't mind.

Hey there. It is the original strap on a PAM01523.

I'm not near the watch or I would take a picture for you.

For me, it's the 5396R-012, hands-down. The classic dial and gorgeous Breguet numerals are a winning package. It's the only Patek on my "must buy" list at the moment.

Black 5170 for me, but I'd probably look to Lange and a Dato or Zeitwerk.

Even though you said you already ruled it out, I still think you should try the 5205R-010 (black dial) in person. It's a very special watch, well worth trying on the wrist to be sure. The black and gold is particularly eye catching and is unique to this model for Patek Philippes in this price range.

Great collection. If you do want to add a Patel, I would love to see an AC in this collection, that would get you the Patek and a Complication. As some have said, finding a pre-owned 5146g or p would be a pretty good buy. With your collection, since your two dress watches in the JLC and Cartier are white faced watches, I'd like to see something in black or slate grey to compliment.

5227 is most definitely not bang for buck and does not hold value well. It's a nice watch with a cool and modern Patek case, but it's the most expensive Calatrava and most people prefer to spend a little more and get a 5146 with a precious metal deployant.

I know you don't like the Nautilus....so I would vote 5524.

Otherwise, 5712/5164A or R.

Delighted to discover there is a Patek Philippe forum here! I recently saw the Gondolo 5124J-001, Yellow Gold, in the display window at the local AD here in Vancouver. Had been admiring it online for some time, so I had to go in and try it. Absolutely love it, and as I am currently looking for a gold watch this might just be my next acquisition:

There are very few reviews - or comments - about this model online. None of the photos I have seen really portray it's beauty in full, although that can be said about pretty much any watch.

The price of this watch is what really surprised me: $30,000CAD which amounts to around $25000USD. I realize that being a time only caliber the price will be much less than the Complications or Grand Complications models. While I certainly appreciate the more complicated Patek Philippe models, my aesthetic tastes always draw me toward the simpler dials. This would definitely be my choice for 50 grand or less.

Cheers,
Carl
